Hi Forum Members,

I have a G6E Turbo that spends considerable time in the garage due to a lack of time to use and enjoy the same.

I recently noticed that the outside temperature displayed on the OCM screen inside is now reading aproximately 8 degrees lower than the out side temperature actually is.

Has anyone come across this problem and or know of a fix for the same. Otherwise it's off to the dealers to rectify.

Robh

Yep quite common, they replaced the ambient temperature sensor (which is in the passenger side external mirror) twice in mine. Mine was out 5-6 degrees I think.

Would there perhaps be some moisture in there however? I know that it used to read MUCH lower for example after I'd washed the car but otherwise I'd be heading to the dealer

Hi Ron,

Thanks for the update.

Moisture perhaps may be at fault as after washing and a shamoius to and outside for a couple of hours to dry off, it is put away into a bone dry garage for months at a time.

Just maybe moisture is still present in the LHS mirrow which could be the cause of the problem.

Interesting that you have replaced your sensor twice, which indicates that Ford may have a known issue with this item.

Once again thanks for your post and advice Ron,

Regards,

Rob

J.d had the same problem. Just got it fixed

They replaced the whole mirror under warranty, if I'm not mistaken

go to ford and ask them to check it!

bottom of LHS mirror is a little knob like thing, that's the sensor!

yeah it's a fairly common problem

Interestingly it's reading way out once again it was 41C here the other day and the car had been at work in the sun all day but the OS temp read 24C. I'm taking holidays in a couple of weeks to move house so might go have a chat with the service advisor at Ford and get a few warranty things sorted, hopefully they've got a proper fix for this now :) BTW loving the car, had a BMW 5 series driver next to me the other day and he was nearly falling out of his car to look at the G6ET hahaha.
