nice write up dude. looking forward to some pics..

what made u go with the audison as opposed to the alpine pxa-h800. I know both are awesome units, yet costly! but each has their own differences n wondering what made u decide to go the audison. they both look like units that wont phase out of time and be replaced in the near future which is great.

u reckon ull tune it on the laptop sometime soon or just leave it as is since your pretty happy with it?

So as I don't hijack this thread I'll keep it brief but it all came down to price. The Audison unit was roughly $800, I spoke to a few shops and just happened to come across my unit (ex demo but never hooked up...was only ever in a display cabinet)...they dropped the price to $410 still in the box..thought they mucked up on the quote so I swooped lol. Yep I'll have a crack at the laptop tune soon...you can restore it back to factory settings so if I stuff it I'll put back to the way it was. I honestly haven't seen the Alpine at work but it was one of the ones I was scoping when looking at purchasing.

Did you install some sound deadening mat? Would compliment the sound.

Have any problems running the wires to the speakers in the doors and so forth?

Post up some pics mate - its sounds good! - and if ya don't mind, a few of the mounting and sh*t ya did would be awesome

wow $410 never used in box is farking ridiculous cheap lol. considering $1200 when they first came out haha, u did well.. ive got a LOC atm but its just for my sub atm (bf xr6) but next car I may do the whole lot and move up to a better unit like the one uve got, sounds the goods!

nice dude, good set up behind the seats. kinda stock looking except for the mad amp in the middle haha, looks good. wonder how itd go under one of the seats if it fits (just re-checked, in your case..both amps under each seat)? with just 2 individual boxes for the subs behind each seat.

keeping the car as is now or will go with the headunit too? also wheres the processor hidden? done a good job hiding that one lol

An amp is probably the biggest thing you can do for your stereo. after market speakers will only be better with a good signal behind them. and yes, 6x9's fit

that's all I installed, sound is crystal clear at loud volumes. almost to clear.... its missing some bass though... I know you are all going to say "why didnt you install sub/s" etc but I know I can get more out of the 6x9's. have b4 and will do some work to make them so it will again. I like my space behind my seats, and not big on ratteling the crap out of my car. I "may" get a under seat sub one day, if I get bored. ill get some pics in 2 weeks when I get back from Darwin. ive gotta strip the interior again to fiddle with some stuff.

I also use Dynamat on inner and outer door skins, the entire back wall and the B pillar. I wanna do the roof and floor when im back.

Might be able to fit an amp under the passenger side seat but drivers side might be tight due to the seat mechanism. The sound processor is in the cab behind the drivers seat on the side of the sub enclosure. As far as the sound resonance through the vehicle... I have had it cranked and the panels are as tight as!!! Don't know how it will hold up in 5 to 10 years time but it will be long gone by then.

my amp is under the passenger seat. but yeah, dunno about the drivers side. got the electric motor n stuff under there.

same deal. has a slight humm at "0" through to about "8"ish, but by then the stereo is louder than it. the humming noise does'nt increce with the volume. and that's with no processer. straight from speaker level, through the amp to the speakers.

Yeah Kyle, The Focal's are awesome and I've had 6x9's in previous cars which I know if set up right can give you plenty of bass. Would love to hear how your splits sound in the ute...when you say they sound crystal clear...I believe it!! they have won awards so they would be brilliant to listen to! It's hard to imagine that Focal have been able to make improvements on speakers considering even the one's I have in the ute sound unbelievable. Ps... Nice ute mate!!!
