Non garret tho?

Take it from me as im doing it at this exact moment budget another $500 too sort out your intake and power steering lines and tank too allow clearance for the bigger intake.

I also had too change my oil drain as I was rubbbing on outlet of the turbo.

it all adds up quickly believe me! :censored:

I have a hta3794 on my xr6 turbo, it has no more lag than a gt3540 but shows simular if not better results to the gt4094 in a small package. the lack of lag actually surprised me alot! very very streetable!

Didn't have to change powersteer lines or powersteer tank for my TO4z.

However good idea to change radiator header tank.

MSpec ones on eBay for $200 and cheaper.

Also probably be able to run the TO4z on standard manifold with adaptor and dump modified or made to suit.

Don't need to change intake as can route to standard position.

But it is better suited to run custom manifolds to get the most out of it.

Careful on those eBay turbos, may work for short time but if a intake wheel let's go you may damage your engine as well srappenal through intercooler.

Some of them are made of good materials but not put together real well.

If you shop around you will get a true Garrett for a good price.

Eg Autobarn wanted $3g and some others similar, I ended up getting mine for $2g with v clamp.

That was cheaper then a replacement turbo.

I decided to spend extra for manifolds etc and go the TO4z.

I found running standard turbo at 18psi with Plazmaman plenum, hdi GT series cooler was equivalent power wise and et same with TO4z only at 12psi.

As well the TO4z was way more responsive.

Only change was turbo, dump, progate 50 WG and TAZ exhaust manifold.

So much more efficient, couldn't even get boost down to 8psi through tune and 8psi spring, tried making tune as soft as I could to prevent rod failure, didn't work.

Can't wait till I finally get my new engine finished.

Be able to play then.

And yes it adds up especially if it's a BA engine, having to build it strong or at least changing to a F6 engine.

I'm doing all mine myself right down to tuning and I have spent well over $15g to get mine to where it is.

Still have to do driveshafts as well.

hmm... I'm building my FG atm list below:-

H beam rods

CP pistons

street girdle

ACL race series bearings

Head slight port and serviced

ARP head studs

billet oil gears and pump mod

ETC…

But my problem is that I still only have the std FG xr6t turbo that will max out around 350 rwkws!

So when I saw these ones on eBay I was really keen to get some feedback and opinions on these TO4Z’s!

If my budget allowed I’d prob just go with the GTX3582R!!!

imo I would not be putting one of these things on my engine, def out of the question if I had just built it! you could do some more research into who makes the internals, but I would suspect they are of chinese origin. and from what I am told they are really hit and miss. not a risk I would be taking! the extra for a genuine garret or equivilent is cheap insurance for a built motor.

speak to karl from "hiro performance" about modding your standard turbo. the gt3566 is a great mod for anyone with the smaller turbo wanting more power! Karl will get you a good price on it.

Any pics of you intake setup mate? I have relocated my p/s tank and modded the pressure feed too the rack, supply too the pump and return from the rack to suit.

I could not get a full 4" intake into the Nizpro air box without unacceptable amounts or interference with the steering components listed above

cheers

Luke

MyEnginebay_01.jpg

Mines a TAZ manifold supplied by Hi Torque.

Didn't even need to bend any ps lines or any other stuffing around.

The hose is a 90degree I trimmed back to get right angle for the placement of the filter.

Battery is in boot, helps make more room for filter to breathe.

Even dump was a simple 2 90deg bends with WG pipe merge on bottom bend.

Mine you fitting the oil drain up is a bitch.

Have not fab a airbox as yet but there's no problem of making one to fit.

I have run Teflon braided lines for oil & coolant for turbo.
