Hey All,

Just a quick question in regards to exhaust manifold torque settings - I've read that 27Nm is the recommended torque for the exhaust manifold bolts, but in the Gregories service manual I have, it recommends 40Nm for the turbo (27Nm for N/A 6)

Local Ford dealer wouldnt tell me what it should be, hoping one of you kind folk will be able to shed some light as to what it should be!

Cheers!

whoops, might be helpful if I included that ay!

2005 BF XR6T

Is it necessary to apply the antiseize n the washer or can you just use the torque wrench n just nip them all back up again?

When is the ideal time to do it? ie when the motors stone cold, warm (switched off 3 hours ago) or when its hot?

its 40Nm for the turbo Ex manifold to head and 55Nm for the turbo to Ex manifold. Straight from ford workshop manual.

40nm is too high for high tensile into aluminium innit? I always thought it was 27 and did mine at 32nm.

Just checked Ford the manual again 27nm.

Now I'm confused - I was looking in the BF manual

says 27 . . . . . but I then went to the section on removing/installing the turbo and the torque settings say 40nm.

I wouldn't go over 40 for fear of stripping the thread, but 27 does feel like stuff all. think I might do mine this weekend and go for 37.
