Axle tramp is a result of a combination of soft bushes, soft springs, small diameter shocks and plenty of torque down low - you need to address these things to cure the axle tramp issue

Those diff bush inserts are basically a band-aid solution, the centre bush will still crack and you'll end up with the same problem - we've had much more success with the super pro bushes - they actually put some R&D into their bushes so you can have a complete replacement bush without the NVH increase.

Business must be quite, lol. I don't think anyone will disagree that a total replacement is needed at some point. However, it's expensive to drop the whole diff assembly (approaching a grand via ford - about half-ish via pedders) when a low cost preventative measure can be taken via the spare wheel well. Yes it means drilling a hole (to pass the bolt through) and fitting a bung but so what - there are two OEM drain holes in there already. Mine will be done neatly with a holesaw and nobody will know. Band-aid maybe, but is better than nothing and for cars like mine that are modded (warranty gone) but with low k's, it's viable.

Out of interest - how much is the rear super pro replacement bush and if you fit, how much? I'm also interested in the control blade ones as at least you don't have to drop the cradle to fit those. cheers, Bomber.

You don't have to drop the craddle to replace the bush if your drilling a hole in the spare wheel well either.

That's what I did the first time I replaced mine.:spoton:

How did you get the old out and new in? I thought they are a press fit and therefore hard to remove/replace, even with the craddle dropped. As there is bugger all room, I didn't think you could get tooling in there to reinstall and I'm guessing you only made the hole big enough for the bolt to pass through so can't do much else from the wheel well?

If they do come out easy it probably would be smarter to fit the super pro bush or just let the OEM sh*t itself and replace down the track. Any advice?

I had to make the hole large enough for the socket to go through. Probably 11/4" from memory.

The old bush was shagged so it was destroyed with a chisel to get it out completely.

I left the new bush in the freezer for about 4 hours before I fitted it. There is just enough room between the cradle and the spare wheel well to get the bush started in the hole.

I used a bit of a drift to get it in most of the way before it expanded and got real tight.

I then just used a longer bolt packed with large flat washers to pull the bush in.

I had to use some spacers on the front bushes due to trying to pull the whole diff rearward when pulling the rear bush in.

I just kept adding flat washers and giving it a couple of blunt whacks with a hammer everytime it got tight until it was seated all the way home.

I removed the pull in bolt and refitted the factory bolt.

Everything was torqued to spec and a grommet fitted to thespare wheel well. Piece of cake really.

It would have been easier if I had access to a hoist to get to a more user friendly height, but I didn't, so I just got the car raised as high as I could on jack stands.

All up I think it took me and a mate about 4 hours to do.

I need to it again as the second one has collapsed, but this time I'll be droppping the cradle as I have a heap of bushes I will be replacing at the same time to try and get some extra life out of it.

Talk to Pat, aka senna_T. He'll be able to fill you in on the parts he sold me to get rid of the tramp and a price. Good service and good products to match.

Thanks for taking the time to explain what you did. My OEM bush is still fine - I'm mainly looking to preserve it. I think the infill is probably a better option at this stage as you simply insert it into the void. Still means drilling a hole but after that its just slip the bolt out and fit the part (into the stock bush) and re-torque it. When it totally sh*ts I'll drop the craddle and put in the 'turbo' superpro bush.

Most common is banging noise from the rear of the car on hard acceleration and deceleration.
