Plonky,

In regards to not giving way to an emergency vehicle.

I was sitting at the 5ways in Crows Nest (very busy) I was in lane3 and first at the lights. I was sitting at the red light and a fireengine came behind me with lights and sirens, I did not go through the red lights, and they could not go over the medium strip because of traffic. Once the lights went green I booted it, but I felt bad about not letting them through.

Now my question is, Should I have run the red to let the firetruck through ?

I personally do not think so as I would be committing an ofence and causing a traffic hazard as I would have blocked the pedestrian crossing.

Thanks

You can go through the red light to let the fire truck through because you are complying with the legislation (giving way to am emergency vehicle)

You will find that in most cases with the Road Rules there are exemptions, and the main one is that you don't commit and offence when you are directed to do something by the Police or are complying with something such as giving way to emergency vehicles.

Plonky,

I heard that if you get booked for over 131km/h they will take your license away for 3months, this includes getting done in a 110km/h zone. Is there any truth to this rumour ?

Also is there a website to find out about all the offences and the penalty (aside from the motor traffic act) ?

Thanks

Hi Ponch,

I remember in another thread your colleague Plonky said that bonnet pins are illegal. In NSW what can I use to secure my bonnet for road use? The bloody thing lifts at about 90Km and is rather unnering BUT the hinges and locks etc are all tight.

I was thinking about the old fashioned bonnet pins like the XY GT's had but if they're illegal what other choices are available, that will pass a roadworthy here?

Cheers In Advance,

Lumpy

LP.

I am pretty sure you can use the twist type bonnet pins. They sit almost flush with the bonnet and do not cause any more pain if you hit a pedestrian.

I think they used them on XC GT Falcons or similar.
