Guest P'cisT Guests Posted 24/11/03 01:11 PM Share Posted 24/11/03 01:11 PM Of course its against the law to have tinted windscreen. The rest you can have 35%. Only exception is if you car was made before a certain year, around '92 I think.Speed cameras can pick them all up! It was answered earlier in teh thread I believe.L platers would need a driver present. Else, what's the point.I'm 99% sure this is right. One of the guys can confirm. As VG said officer safety is vital. The reason for the torch would be to rate the level of threat the vehicle occupants pose. Obvously in your case little to none. If your standing on the outside at night you cannot see in through tint so light is needed. You do not want a sawn off staring back at you. You will find one person goes to the driver on an intercept to clear the driver and the partner will clear the rear.A S.E.R.T officer mate of mine told me how he intercepts a car you would not be happy with that. two 100 series cruisers ramming the car off the road and draging the people out. "None of this hi how are you crap" he stated. Obviously these are high risk people and all perfectly legal and justfiable. As for the cautious driver, I aggree too, if im working at all hours of the morning, the car doing 5-10 under the speed limit is 100 to 200% over the booze limit. Works like a charm though, and the look on the face of the offender while the stop is in progress is, as they say in the Mastercard ad........priceless

He discovered this aparently by moving here from interstate (can't remember which state) and had to remove the tint on the windscreen so that he could register his car here.
