I also bought a 04/10 XR6t from Melbourne's cheapest car's and got it shipped up to QLD for an extra 600. Very happy so far, easy to deal with all over the phone. They currently have another 2 listed for ~22k, they are selling them too cheap!

Offered me 7k for my BA Turbo when I enquired about a chaser there last year. The FG's interior was shagged too! Septimus New Member 17 Member For: 12y 3m 28d Posted 20/08/12 11:50 AM Share Posted 20/08/12 11:50 AM By the way - the Cops serviced the car every 10,000 K.Better than Ford recommended. Ford recommendations are talked about elsewhereI think your find regular Fford service as per the book is 15,000. Vicpol cars were oil changed every 5000 and serviced every 10,000. That was the traffic cars (we always looked after them). At stations, the div vans could go beyond that a bit cause they couldn't afford to bring them off the road for a day sometimes, especially if there wasn't a replacement vehicle available.I bought a 2011 FG XR6T from Pickles auctions a few months ago with 62000kms.I called up the ford dealer that serviced it and asked about their service schedule for highway patrol cars. They said it was serviced as per the Ford handbook, every 15000kms and brakes were inspected/changed every 5000kms.When I got it, it had new front rotors and new pads all round. Looks they are some sort of dusty metallic ones like Bendix ultimates maybe. The second battery in the dual battery setup that comes in these cars is only to run the accessories, it won't help to crank if the primary one fails. It's an optima yellow so it's a good one to replace your standard one.The car is a little rough around the edges but it's a good buy if you can live with small scratches here and there. All Commodores in town now. Oil & filter, diff oil with additive (Nulon not Ford. $40 versus $130) check & record pad & rotor thickness. Replace pads when 3mm or less, rotors if undersized or marked. Pads supplied by police fleet company through Repco (Bendix Ultimates from memory). Well serviced but fleet companies like to use aftermarket (cheaper) parts when they can. Get a different program (tune) from stock. Speed limiter removed, smart alternator charge programming modified to allow full charging all time at idle. Batteries were running flat while cars idled at roadside. No more power as part of ecu program. Program (tune) done on stock Ford workshop computer. Get a flogging but Hot seat changes generally lead to less cold start engine wear. If no obvious damage, gutter jumping etc, Prob pretty good buy, if you want an auto....Sorry bout such long post... Only trouble was the water pump pulley coming loose. Replaced under Ford warranty. Have just had the diff bushes replaced under extended warranty. The local Ford dealer feels happier doing a service every 7,500 K. I am happy with that. Used to change my oil every 5,000 k in the past and it keeps the warranty good. Still on the same brake pads since I bought the car. Must be due for a change soon. Also had it's 1st buff and polish. Looking good. The Federals are at 50%. I can not find a reason to buy factory fitted Dunlops. On a score of 0-10 has to be 10+.
