I have done a centre bearing in my modified 2 piece tailshaft, not keen on fixing it.

Just looking if anyone has put a custom 1 piece tailshaft in a ba sedan running a powerglide, if anyone knows someone who will make a 1 piece tailshaft in Melbourne PM me. The guys who Kewish auto use don't want to do it. Alot of fast vl's run 1 piece's, I don't get why they won't do it for the ba's.

Please do not fit a straight shaft as it will blow apart, we had a trade customer in Melbourne with a VZ on a Dyno and it was fitted with a single shaft and it exploded and done over $12,000 damage.

I can supply our Premium Tailshaft assembly made from Chrome Moly tube and it will hold over 900 HP, the cost is $2350.

Hi Mal,

Did they find out what caused it to fail?

-Alignment(excessive or insufficient)/joint angles

-Strength

Good question!!!

The diff and transmission in these cars are in a fixed position, the diff is fixed in a cradle (and not moving up and down as in a live axle) and the tailshaft does not move and therefore when a one piece tailshaft with uni/joints is fitted as a replacement the universal joints do not have any working angle and the tailshaft will develop a harmonic vibe through the car.

And ultimately the tailshaft will whip at high revs and literally blow apart.

Have a look at the photos... Regards, Mal

phantom 6, try gj drivelines in dandenong, they do all of nizpro's drive shafts and tailshafts, also hpf, rank rotary, and plenty of drag racers and v8 supercars. there address is factory 2/189 cheltenham rd keysborough. sorry not dandenong. they even do custom if you want. hope it helps.
