Winds on the coast are hitting 30 knots in the gusts now. And this system is picking up speed.

High tide at Bris river mouth is around three. Story bridge is a few hours after that. I would be more worried about later tonight and tomorrow's high tide if this rain keeps up.

Has Winenhoe ever been this full ???? Or been this tested after this a long dry that we have had ???

I`m concerned. I work just below it and I know we were flooded on saturday BEFORE it started to rain, they had all 8 gates open. then you had TWO SYDNEY HARBOURS A DAY!!! going in there..

I think it`s copped virtually what Somerset holds in one day.

I think they`re sh*tting blue lights about it.

Without being alarmist, Biblical Proportions wouldn`t be too strong a term.

BUT!!! we`re not there yet. Although you do have a king tide on the calendar..

The Bremer in town is rising like a mofo. Some are claiming that the town bridge is going to be closed.

I don`t think they even did that in `74.

I`m really worried about a family I know who live right on Sandy Creek in Grantham.

But, they are a tough bunch of hillbillies. Fingers crossed.

Was in the City earlier for a job and after I finished the drive home was hysteria. So much traffic on the roads and nobody seems to be concentrating properly. Had to walk through the creek on the property at its lowest (knee deep) to leave coming back after work was basically a swim and f*cking stupid. The missus is in a hotel tonight as she wont get home.

Stay Safe everyone in affected areas.

I just helped move some stuff out of the house across the road. Joycie`s place went under downstairs in `74.

Foon is still in situ. If I see it in Joycie`s backyard, then I`ll revise.

It didn`t rain for about 30mins then.. Just started again. If it stops, soon or even eases up, we`ll be okay here.

I`ll get ready to cap any looters that show up.

okay revise! Now they are predicting 22 metres. that's a prediction though.

I`ll watch it.. You bet ya arse I will.

My concerns about Grantham are being realised.

Sad news.

If you look at the map. The high in the bite is feeding the low off Fiji. And neither system seem's to be moving much. That and the warm water are what I think is causing all this. They are saying easing to showers tomorrow. mmm God I hope so.

This is just how fast it comes in when it does http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYUpkPTcqPY&feature=youtu.be

Wivenhoe Dam emergeny 'fuse plug' spills at 75.2M as the fuse plug dissipates when it gets so high as it's built with soft material like sand so that when water reaches that point, the sand washes away allowing the water to escape:

Secondary Spillway

Type Ogee crest spillway with limited

concrete lining controlled by fuse

plug embankments

Number of Fuse Plug Embankments 3

Size of each Fuse Plug Embankment Bay 1 (centre) 34m wide

Bay 2 (LHS) 64m wide

Bay 3 (RHS) 65m wide

Initiation Levels Bay 1 (centre) EL75.7

Bay 2 (LHS) EL76.2

Bay 3 (RHS) EL76.7

So its like a disposable wall, first one will dissolve @ 75.7, and that's 34m wide. the next one (LHS) is 76.2m, and the last is 76.7. at that point there is 165 meters of "spillway",

is this true????

and the dam is at 74.43 @ 4:40 this arvo
