As I type this at 9:11am at Ipswich, its as dark as a dogs guts and still pissing down. At 6am I drove out to Fernvale to assess the damage at work and offer help to management guys on site, which a sand and gravel quarry on the Brisbane River. Or should I say IN the Brisbane River.

Every drive way onto the highway was a river, I turned around and gtfo out of there.

Toowoomba, Helidon and Grantham got smashed as you`ve no doubt seen on the news over and over and over again.

All that water will flow down to Lockyer Creek which joins the Brisbane river just below the Wivenhoe Dam.

Wivenhoe was built not only for water storage but also as flood mitigation after the awful 1974 floods.

However, the Lockyer Creek and the Bremer River to say nothing of all the lil creeks that also flow into the Brisbane River below the dam are all just running off scale.

Normal full Storage for Wivenhoe is 1,165,238, currently its 1,728,590. that's nearly 50% over the top mark for storage.

How much more in flood mitigation is left? not much I wouldn`t imagine.

If it keeps raining like it is for as long as they think it might, then who knows.

Yeah the weather is nuts, im up in Gympie and its finally starting to ease here but its a complete island cant get in or out. Makes it worse cant rape the T as the bp is on the other side of the water :bangcomputer: but yeah has been flooded here for about 5 days now only hit major 2 days ago. What happened at Toowoomba was pretty wild to that many people missing and already dead kinda crazy.

It has not stopped pissing down here in Noosa this morning. The water in the canal is over the concrete and up to the grass. High tide is at 3 this arvo. Eeek. Luckily we don't have a king tide like in 92 or 98.

I am really feeling for you guys up in the Gymp and out west. Just beyond words.

There`s a cell moving through now 80 - 100 mm an hour rain.

The Bremer River in town here is rising fast.

My Aunty rang this morning, in Nambour they`ve exceeded 20 inches of rain this year.

Still it falls.

At work everyone laughed at me when we discussed the possible levels it could reach, I pointed to the weighbridge / office and said there`s ya high water mark. No one beleived it would reach such an impossible mark.

Its just below it now. River must be fifity ( or more ) feet deep just there.

The road in some areas are going to be fvkced for YEARS.

I could post some pics but unless you know the area its just a big brown river. You gotta know there`s a bridge under there, 11 metres down or whatever.

Unless you`ve lived beside a waterway dry for years that suddenly runs, you can not comprehend what can occur.

Toowoomba and the valley is just heartbreaking. Especially so when you find out 4 kids are among those reported killed and 72 are missing.

This is bad.

Definitely some terrible scenes up in QLD, makes it so much worse that there is basically nothing you can do about it.

Thoughts go out to those effected by it all.

The current level of Wivenhoe as of 9am today is 2,049,705ML and rising, up from 1,728,590ML same time yesterday ... pretty scary when the absolute full capacity including flood mitigation is around 2,600,000 ML

And the rain just keeps dumping its guts along the same path from the Sunny Coast all the way southwest to Inglewood/Texas.

Different reports, ol` Pissale the mayor reckons the bremer will peak at 18 metres. 1974 was 20.. A lot has happened with infrastructure and what have you in those 37 years.

In 1974 it reached to where the base of my letter box is now.

It`s doubtfull it`ll do that looking at the levels now, but I wouldn`t even have a 2 dollar each way bet at this stage of the game..

The old grantham pub is shagged, some fond memories of that sh!thole having lived in that town for 10 odd years.

But there`s wild fires burning outa control in WA. What a weird country..
