It would be nice to wish for something all new AND wholly local, but it simply wont happen, even though I'd love to be proven wrong. Few years to go yet but given the shrinking large car market segment, the dollars needed to develop something just for this tiny market will not be easy to build a business case for.. Heres hoping! Heres hoping! To be honest if/when I have the choice between a FoA developed large car, and a globally backed one I'm jumping on board all the benefits and support that the global car brings. Can you imagine a "falcon" with the features and technology currently available in the States, let alone what Ford will develop in the next 5 years? Look up a Taurus or an Edge on Ford's US sites and check out the features - these are the sort of cars/features that I hope will be coming to this market.FoA Product Development have designed the new Ranger, and have well and truly moved on to global programs, their focus is obviously not on platforms that are only built and sold here. The only real outstanding question is whether or not the next large car will be built here, or simply supplied via additional capacity from overseas. My feeling is Broady will be operating for a few years to come.

I rent Mustangs etc all the time in the states and the build quality is crap, the brakes are crap, and they are gutless, the Taurus and the 500 are a joke and seen as such in the US buy most people you ask.The Falcon died as soon as some dickhead decided to put a 4 cyl in it, that car should have all the features and popularity as the first Camiras got. Guest XR09 Guests Posted 12/01/11 03:31 AM Share Posted 12/01/11 03:31 AM I bought the Ford to be patriotic. A proud Aussie, and driving the best we make.If they start using foreign imports to replace the Falcon. With Fords service, especially the after sales service and build quality. Not a chance I would be in a Ford. Not a new one... No way.And + 1 to American build quality. Absolute shoite. Its like putting a Magna or a Camry badge on our beloved Turbos.Imagine if the Falcon goes FWD... this will be our competition! 200kw of pure unadulterated FWD single spinner POWER
