Something resembling the venerable German made Goodyear Asymmetric F1 is being exchanged for our money.

Its the same name, same price.

The thing is, the 'good' is Chinese and thus unsurprisingly, well, as I have found, vibrating rumbling, rubbish.

It is unbelievable that such a fabulous product as the Goodyear F1 Assymetrico (German) could be so debased.

This would seem to be an abject abdication of the trust between The Consumer and The Brand.

It is unbelievable that a company such as Goodyear would con me and and substitute Chinese 'quality' into the most critical components of my family car.

Really. Bugger. Glad my tyre guy told me they could not get them and I got the Kuhmo's instead. T'is a shame. They were an excellent tyre.

So how do you tell - is there a indication anywhere on the tyre saying Made in China instead of Made in Germany? Thanks - I've looked on mine but don't recall seeing "Made in China" or "Made in Germany" printed on them anywhere :beerchug:

The 'Made in China' marking is exceedingly difficult, even for 'experts' skilled in locating tyre markings who have in fact owned numerous sets of the tyre.

I certainly could not find the mark within a reasonable time when picking my car up from the car dealership. This is despite expressly checking for such markings and also having owned several sets of the tyre before.

Nor did the Tyre dealer, a good guy, have any idea of what had happened.

The ' Made in Germany ' mark is very large and very obvious.

The ' Made in China ' mark is of significantly smaller font and camouflaged inside a complex symbol.

Remember this is marketed as exactly the same model of tyre...

I understand that the model has now been withdrawn from the market and something called the Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric II is on the horizon.

I goy my last set of good good years of a member here hqracer (I think)and they were eagle F1 gs d3 made in wait for it Australia best tyres I ever had order another set from a local tyre mob they were made in china and they were crap couldn't even get a balance on the tyre that felt good you could feel the how uneven the tyres were one I couldnt even roll along the concrete without it falling over before one full rev.

the best tyre out there in my opinion is a continental even the dry tread patterns out handle most in the wet and are outstanding in the dry.

Yep, found it. Mine are made in China. Though in my honest opinion - they are better than the OEM Dunlops I had on previously. Almost 6 months now so probably close to 5000km on them so far - still feel good. Actually better - but that's possibly because I've learnt how to drive with them now ie I know better what their limits are. So I'd still recommend them myself :beerchug:

I got Dunlop Sportmaxx TT's instead and must say - very impresses compared to previous Dunlop rubbish fitted as OEM. They seriously grip and the ute now actually has to work to lose traction off the line and in corners the ESC light will start to flash before you feel the car letting go in a corner so its actually holding on extremely well.
