yes. ford put reductions in as a way of being kinder on the transmission. if you remove them the acceleration is quicker and gear changes less sloshy, but it is harder on the trans....

Also, why do Ford have the ignition and torque reduction between gear changes ? Does removing it expose the drive line to any potential problems?

The ZF's are meant to be strong, and the difference it makes with it removed is amazing.
