both turbos have the same rear housing but from what I have read the fg has a bigger different shaped hole and flapper standard? I am interested to see how an original ported ba/bf rear housing would go on a fg turbo front housing...would it even be benificial or are the fg ones better from stock???

Is this fact? If I got a FG rear housing would that negate the need for the mod?

Another question, (only because port and mod is quite expensive in NZ) will this work OK with a good wastegate?

Would I weld the flap closed? Will this also do away with actuator?

Seems to solve alot of issues but I've not seen it before so wondering what are the drawbacks (if it will even work at all).

that's just a adapter. You will still need to buy a external wastegate.

Understand mate, as above I said "with a good wastegate" will it work OK :)

It seems like the solution to a big problem, just wondering why it's not pursued more often

Umm no need? Its only a big problem to those who make it one.

Some guys in here with 500 at the wheels with a internal gated turbo.

If its done properly ie not cutting corners, internal gates work fine, and flow plenty.

I doubt the turbo will still fit with that spacer. Its tight as is then add 30-40mm and she will be hard against the upright. Porting the gate is easy really. I done mine with Die grinder and welded a flapper on with no issues. Went from a minimum of 17psi up top to tapering 18 down to 16psi

The fact your doing mods and the tuning costs money, it isn't really expensive when compared with overall costs.
