Got my F6 2 weeks ago and got done doing 134 in a 100 zone,I already have 4 demirits against me! cop said I'd loose 6 points but ive looked it up and its 5 but doubled because of these double demerits!!!! The question is do you loose your licence for 30kph over the limit? are there any ways around it; ie going and getting a qld licence? Help!!!!

You can plead loss of job and losing your license will cause hardship and if you have decent record they will give you one point for 12 months. have a look on the RTA website its all laid out there. I think you should also look at the SDRO website. It is possible, then you will have to drive like a grandma for 12 months and if you f*ck up once you walk for 6 months.

Ouch, you can go on a good behaviour period if you have a full licence but 30+ is auto 3 months suspension I think. I'm surprised the cop did not drop it down to a 20+

geez....

I got done for 34 over in an 80 zone. instant 1 month loss of licence. After that, if you have gone 12 points or over, you lose your licence for an additional 3 months. Or you can go on a 1 point system for 12 months. If you lose even 1 point in that 12 months, you lose it for 6-12 months.

30-34km/h over - 1 month instant loss, ~$380 fine and 4 demerit points.

This is in victoria.

Taken from RTA website

Licence suspension and disqualification periods for speeding

Licence holders may be disqualified or have their licence suspended for the following serious speeding offences:

Driving more than 45 km/h above the speed limit ? six months.

Driving more than 30 km/h but not more than 45 km/h above the speed limit ? three months.

In addition to the suspension and disqualification periods, these offences also carry demerit points which are added to the licence holder?s record. If these demerit points cause the licence holder to reach or exceed their demerit points limit, then an additional suspension or refusal period may apply under the Demerit Points Scheme.

Good behaviour period

Unrestricted licence holders who receive a Notice of Suspension due to the accumulation of demerit points can apply for a 12 month good behaviour period instead of serving the suspension. This option is not available to provisional or learner licence holders or those already serving a good behaviour period.

A good behaviour election must be made before the suspension begins. If the election is not made before the required date, then the suspension will be enforced. The relevant legislation does not give the RTA the discretion to reissue the suspension notice with a new date or to change a suspension to good behaviour after the suspension period has begun.

Licence holders who accumulate 2 or more demerit points while serving a good behaviour period will be suspended for double the original suspension time.

Been through it all man, just take the 3 months suspension and get it over and done with.

If you take the 12 month good behavior and you get done on 1 point, you are looking at 6 months cancelation and you return on probation license with 4 points for one year.

Also if you lose your GDB ( good driving behavior) 1 point, your licence is cancelled on the spot.

It depends what state you got done in. If it was NSW youre gonna lose your licence for 6 months. The first is 3 months for 30km+ which is mandatory. The second is 3 months for loss of licence 4 + 10 (10 for double demerits) which is 2 points over the safe limit. But again, it all depends what State you were in. I think in NSW 30km+ is 6 points so either you're not in NSW or he scaled it down. If he did scale it down you're lucky as hell, in that case you will only get the one suspension, which is for loss of licence.

Also in NSW if you're eligible for the good behaviour option the RTA will notify you of it.
