Gearbox Potential Electronic Issues

A short while ago my car started to develop some intermittant gearbox issues. Basically the car would go into limp mode from time to time for no real reason and the gearbox would not change up cleanly. The display on the dash while I was at stand still would flicker between P, N, R and D but once moving would sometimes return to D. Also after a short while the manual selection on the auto gearbox would fail. If I switched the engine off and then back on it would clear for a while but over a short period it would return.

As advised on here I took it to Bayswater Automatics who were very helpful. They put it on their diagnostic machine and it came up with a few error codes, one being the inhibitor switch(the part that the gear selector linkage fits to), and the other being the switch on the manual selection.

They noted that they had never seen both fail at the same time so suggested that that the inhibitor switch was changed first. The switch was changed and the gearbox over Christmas has functioned as it should. However the dash display now remains in D all the time and the manual selection does not work at all any more. Bayswater have suggested changing the dip switches but I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue before and can advise what it might be before I spend more money changing things that may not be faulty.

One last thing. I noticed over Christmas that the cruise control isn't working. I do not know when this stopped working so not sure if it is linked to the other issues. Could it be an electrical wiring issue. Any advice or experience would be appreciated with this

Had my BA XR6T auto transmission do all sorts of weird things including jump out of gear/slipping, rough changes and manual/performance modes were not working. Turned out that the wiring loom into the gearbox was failing (had some corrosion on it) which was screwing up the electronic control of the box.
