Kewl. Sorry was thinking the corsa's were a semi. A lot of semi's are just a street casing with a semi tread. I only do sweep laps in my car. I teach bikes down there sometimes. The Fg even with all the suspension work I have done does not like that track. It's more for fun and to keep my hand in. It is a pitty they don't have more going on at the track days. ie suspension and tire workshops. Power is all good but you still get the best rush through the corners and out of them. Being a four lap format I would not bother with the nitro. It will take 1 1/2 laps to get them up to temp. Best way is hard acceleration and hard braking. Swerving is more to scrub them.

A good lap at QR is 1.20 Full track. For a Punter. We hope to get punters on bikes down to that. On streets I can get a few 1.16's before they give up. Or me ... getting too old for this shoite lol.

And yeah a decent lap is 56's to well hopefully crack a minute on the clubman track. But cracking a min in one of these beasts is a good run. Specially with the condition of two of the critical turns 1 & 3.

I got an email yesterday saying they were raising the laps to 3 x 6 on non rego'ed Club sprint (open sprint format), and dropping to 3 x 4 on rego'ed.

But hey @ $145 for the day it's the most fun you can have with your pants up.

Just need to find a good supersport with some life left in it I think.

didnt put 2 and 2 together, QR being Queensland Raceway?

if you are doing more than 1 lap, then the tyres should get up to heat pretty easily.

if understeer is an issue, then it could be the tyre warming issues, or even just too high pressure.

I dont get much understeer now, pretty much zero, ive got a massive front swaybar on the most aggressive setting whiteline offer in the adjustable.. biggest issue is oversteer/ 4 wheel slides when the tyres are cold.

try some lower tyre pressures to see if that helps :) 36 would be a good start in the front :)

What type of semi slicks where you running??

Are you running more camber now?

Well I wouldn't really call them a semi slick, but I'm running 265x18 Kuhmo KU36 all round. And yes I'm running more camber now but I haven't been back on the circuit with it yet.

Can you confirm if your 6T is a ute or sedan? I noticed that you are running a sway bar in the rear. If it is a ute do you find the car over steering coming out of the corners?

Mine's a sedan.

Also ou mentioned your running 245's, What width are the rims? 8.5?

I was using 36-38 PSI in my front Corsa's (235/40/R18) due to the heavier front end (xr8), was actually quite nice ONCE they got warmth in the front end.

the rears gripped well with 35 psi in them .. again, once warm

edit

you doing track work (eg: 1 warm up, 3 hot, 1 cool down) or motorkhana sprints that are sub 1 minute tracks?

That is interesting to know that you rate the Corsa's. I tried them after running the Toyo 888's they were like chalk and cheese. I think alot of my understeer issues are aligment related. I am going to book it in at Fulcum to get the aligment down and throw as much camber at it as possible. I was running 30PSI front and rear (Hot) as this pressure was recommended by Pirelli and the under steer remained then they were up to temperature.

Would you know anyone is the Brisbane area who specialise in suspension and are good???

I am doing the Queensland Raceway Sprint format.

The KU36's get a pretty good wrap as a good bang for your buck tyre what are your thoughts and what times do you run sprint and clubman configuration?

Was there any issues getting a 265 rims to fit up front.. Any clearance issues?? What rims and sizes are you running??

Yes with the Toyos 888's they were 245/40 18's, however the pirelli's are 235/40. The Kumho 710's are 245/40 I will be running them up front and the pirelli's at the rear.

My track rims are FPV Typhoon copies I believe they are 8" wide can't be sure though.

What suspension setup are you running and what times?? Can you alberate on what part of the track your car does not like??

It is a handful trying to get a 2tonne trademan use with over 500RWHP around the track but its so much fun... It aint no GTR..

the Corsa's cant really compare to the 888s, apart from the 888s being a softer tyre, they are a lot better as we know :)

im trying Michelin S8C compound slicks next event, so ill let you know how those go with grip levels VS time taken to get to temperature

I'm Running 18x9.5 +30 offset all round. The only real fitment issue I had was with +30 offset, it was fine driving around town but at QR going through turn 1 @ 140kmh the rims would flex just enough to touch the hub carrier. So I added 3mm spacers to the front.

I was racing the clubman circuit, 1 standing, 2 flying and 1 cool down lap. The best time I managed was a 1:10.50. The KU36 worked a treat, didn't get any under steer or wheel spin with them. At the time I would have been putting down just over 500rwhp too. I wouldn't mind trying some R888 but I've heard the go off (hard) really quickly, and for $500 a tyre I could almost buy 2 kumho KU36 for that price.

maybe give the Toyo R1R's a go .. way better than the 36s, but they are still street tyres.

got quoted $1400 for 2x245/40/R18 and 2x265/35/R18
