Guys,

When replacing only the spark plugs, I have read that grease should be applied.

According to the Ford manual, Dupont Krytox grease should be used (I think at the base of the coil - 2g of grease per coil)?

Others have said to use/apply dielectric grease at the top of the spark plug. (Is this correct?????)

By the way, Fraud sells Kyrtox ($68 for 14g!). Not sure how much dielectric grease costs??

So, what do you guys use? Krytox or Dielectic grease (or both!) ????

ive never greased a plug to date, never had a problem, Just dont go spastic with the pressure washer.

"Pressure Washer"??? Do you mean the washer on the spark plugs? If so, I should be fine, I'll torque these to 17Nm (as per manual).

I also have never used any grease on the plugs. I think it is just Fords way of bending you over for another $.

What TL was eluding at with the pressure washer is when you clean your motor gown with a pressure washer, avoid the top of the motor, as the water pooling in the plug sleeves will cause corrosion.

This is why Ford grease the plugs as their "facotry trained technicians" like to fill the plug sleeves up with water when washing the motor.

The effort required with no lube is what may screw the coils........

Krytox is good, but that price is ridiculous. It can be sourced from other outlets than Ford who get it from other places anyway.

Dielectric compund would be safe to use for there.

There are also rubber lubrication compounds out there and that is what I would use as a reasonably priced alternative.

Makes removing the coils alot easier, I would sugest you use either. Try removing a coil from a plug after 20-30k....

ive removed numerous BA plugs on cars over 100,000kms.. my old mans BA XL ute still had the stockers at 116,000 and came out no problems.
