Doin a bit of scouring I found this

At the end of the day, You need your wastegate ported and bigger swing valve fitted when you free up the intake and the exhaust. And you notice it overboosting situation(more so at night).

I would rather have the piece of mind knowing that if I tune a car, its not going to overboost at night and cause possible engine failure

Danny.

So

Turbo Exhaust Housing

Upgrade 1

Exhaust housing porting

38mm Swing Valve fitted

10, 12 0r 15psi actuator fitted

Requires your housing

$500

may be on the cards :-/

But like kv stated. will I lose some of the fg bottom end? or will the intake mod compensate somewhat for that?

Did you get my reply to your message last night re the wastegate?

We can do the port job etc if required

No the intake will not bring back what you have lost by going to the larger turbo.

Do you want top end power or to keep the power down low?

I want safest power...

rather keep it down low, but is it ok to run car wile overboosting?

I assume Bels and Kavs are fine with it?

Overboost basically means more boost than what we want, if you want 14 or so then it is not overboost, if wer are trying to get 12 and it goes 14 it is overboost.

The main thing is to have spark tables set up for it, but it is not ideal, it would be better to have it controlled. Fitting a stronger actuator will make it a lot worse.

The FG drives nicer than the previous models because of the smaller turbo, but if you want dyno figures or bragging rights then you need the bigger turbo. Go for a drive in a BA/F and then your FG see which you would prefer and plan around that.

Southside plenty are kicking around with 300 & stock clutch. I've done 20+ passes on mine and it always gets a decent workout. Lots of slipping it off the line as you do in manuals. It's only really slipped once, after stepping off the clutch with tc still on.

But a clutch is on the cards before the next round.

Doing the wastegate porting and actuator wont make you lose down low power,it will help control the boost to the desired level in tune. Having a better intake and free flowing exhaust is going to make that turbo spin up pretty quick,so you want to control boost as best as possible. What about a Nizpro overboost valve, will that help?

Yer Mick I prefer drivin my fgT stock compared to my baT stock.

If its definately not needed then I wont do the porting, swing valve and actuator mod.

(can you pm me price on the MW please so I have a ballpark in the future.)

What about a Niz overboost valve as Matty asked?

I will be doing bels when time permits as I want to fit a stronger actuator as well, I'm only trying to command 12 psi and at present getting about 14 with 0 dutycycle, a stronger actuator will make it a lot worse.

As I said earlier yours will be based on how well your exhaust etc flows, you may be happy to have 14 psi or so
