took me a bit of consideration between using mig or tig.... went with mig

thought I just polish up a corner to see what final result will look like...

can see weld material...

decided to cut the weld back out and reweld with tig... the material showing after polishing was because it was different grade aluminium in the mig wire.

so to attempt to remedy this I have cut some 2mm strips off ally sheet and using that as filler wire for the tig welds...

staggered tig welds to try keep heat/distortion to a minimum

front corners now... tighter radius than the rear so as to match the cabbin...

the join is right where I have to cut out to put the tubs in... so there will be no join...

About time you updated this thread :P

Have you grinded/polished back any of the tig welds to see if there's a noticeable difference with the welds? Would be good to see some pics of that

Also looks like you're in for some fun welding the tail light surrounds haha

Good stuff keep it up master welder :)

I did a test weld using the method I mentioned above and polished it... came up 99%

sh*tcheah! Can just see the welds but fck me, alot better and probably invisible to the everyday person. Will be good to see how it goes judging at some shows, cos you will won't ya :yes: haha
