I thought you were doin yours out of ally? or am I thinkin of another orange ute ;)

well if your painting it anyway then rust is no issue so whatevers cheapest. also depends what your welding it with. u still need to grind away the gal if using tig. and yer, plenty of nozzle dip if mig welding gal.

nah I just got alloy rails, steel is cheaper and easier to work with plus I want to paint it and I want a bit of weight in the back, only have tig, I have welded gal stuff before and its gay but that's cos normally dont grind it cos its just quick repairs..

100x50x3 for the outside and 50x50x2.5 for the headboard and will just use the 50x50 for the cross rails, just so I only have to get 2 lengths...

one place I can get gal 100x50x2.5 and 50x50x2

other place painted 75x50x3 and 50x50x2.5 - maybe 100x50x3

what walls best without being to overkill

I did a quick sketch in manualcad

it's only a couple of kgs different between them turbo_guy and thicker is only ever easier to weld. I'd go the 100, 50 will look to thin. that orange thing is 75 or 100, imagine it 50, would look to light, not enough body. sorry for the off topic staino.

it will be 100x50 around the outside like stainos current version, just 50x50 for the headboard.

yeah will go for the thickers stuff since I can get that painted which is easier all round...hopefully will order some next week
