Fg F6 Stalling Problem

Since taking ownership of my FG F6 auto I have had a stalling issue that intermittently happens when I come to a stop. It's been back to the dealers 4 times and they cant fault it. When it happens it doesnt shake or vibrate it just falls below 500rpm and stalls or it'll kick up the revs to save itself from stalling.

The dealer cant see any error codes and until it happens while they have their diagnostic tools connected to identify the fault they will not replace any parts. So I have the option of either putting up with it or leave the car at the dealer for however long it takes for the fault to re-occur (which can take anything upto a month from experience)and they wont provide me with a loan car unless I pay for it.

I called Ford Customer Service who are as useful as tits on a bull. They said the dealer needs to diagnose the fault before replacing any parts while on the other hand the dealer says until they can find the fault Ford wont let them replace any parts. So I'm basically screwed with no one taking an initiative to resolve my problem.

To add fuel to the fire the previous owner had the ECU flashed (I was unaware of this) which Ford discovered while diagnosing the stalling problem and now my car is flagged any time a warranty claim is made. I bought the car from a FPV dealer who failed to advise me of the modifications to the ECU and now have to take legal action aginst them to take the car back as I was in the understanding that I had the balance of the new car warranty which is now questionable and am seeking a full refund.

This has been a trying experience for me as I worked bloody hard as most people do to purchase what is a fantastic car (being a Expensive Daewoo man) which to me is superior to anything HSV has, to be so let down by dealers who just care about making money instead of looking after the customer. The old days of "doing the right thing by the customer" is long gone. It's replaced by dealers who just want to make a quick buck and companies like Ford who wipe their hands of any warranty liability even if the NEW owner wasnt told the full story by the dealer. All I can say this is the first and last Ford car I will ever own.

Are the standard injectors back in the car? Has there been any changes to the fuel delivery that you are aware of?

Its nothing a tuner cant fix. Seeing there is a question mark surrounding your warranty, I'd bite the bullet and get the car tuned. Stalling can be a common problem associated with the scaling of your injectors and can be fixed easily.

As markymark asked, where do you live?

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear of your experience. The dealers really do have a lot to answer for, lucky for you this site has some really smart people some of which are tuners and will probably help you get this stalling sorted. I hope it can be fixed and you change to the dark side.

Good luck.

I live near Sydney airport, Tunehouse seems to be the pick around the area, but I cant understand why I cant get my factory car to stop stalling.

Another thing if I start the car and put it in drive straight after the engine fires up and before the engine revs come down to idle it will stall, Is this normal? I have never had a car that did this. I sometimes do it if I'm in a rush.

I reckon there's either drilled injectors or aftermarket ones in the car and the tune as been set back to standard, and have set the tune to get around modified/bigger injectors

I could get the injectors flow tested to see what (cc's,lbs/min) they flow. What are the std injectors flowing?

Since taking ownership of my FG F6 auto..........

Welcome to the sh*t world of Ford customer care. I also crossed from the 'dark side' as much as Expensive Daewoo pissed me off on occasions, you could normally shake the tree a bit more and things would happen - but not with this mob.

Mate, legal action will just cost you money so unless you've got a family member that will do it for nothing, they know they can out wait you and it doesn't fix the car. As you say, it's been flashed so pretty much warranty gooorne. Like most advice here, I'd be getting the thing retuned to fix your problems and enjoy the car. That, or sell it. Hope it works out ok. Cheers, Bomber.

Not so sure about the flow of the standard f6 injectors mate, I'm sure someone on here will know.

Doubt warranty will be an issue, he bought the car off a ford dealer, that did not advise him of prior modifications
