150000 km on my poorly made pieces of crap, which is about 3 times what I ever got out of tapered roller bearings.

I have noticed, at great cost, that with 4 degrees negative on the front, I replace the front bearings on a regular basis!

I find they are stuffed after about '4' Track Days.

To the point that I carry a spare set of front Bearings at all times.

I have no doubt that the additional stress of the front settings and the tremendous amount of heat generated at the Track, is the killer!

Interestingly, the back are set at 2.7 degrees negative, but these last a hell of a lot longer!

- The rear Brakes don't work as hard and don't get as hot!

'Maybe' the heat is the biggest killer!

It goes to show that as soon as we begin to modify and change the loads/temps this critical component sees, they just give up the ghost. It just shows that manufacturers build their product to simply do its job under normal operating conditions and like most things nowadays, there is no margain for coping with extra stresses that we may put them under, either by additional loads such as different wheels with non-standard offsets, or by really driving them hard, like the occasional track day. Remember these vehicles weigh every bit of 1800kg so the loads this component endures are not small. There are lots of V8 Supercar second-hand wheel hubs for sale on My105, so theres another option for ya! :stirthepot:

My 73,000 km Apr 2003 BA XR6T is well overdue for a new set,

The steering wheel shakes like crazy whilst cruising at 100 km/h.

Try tyres, wheel balance, rims undamaged, control arm bushes upper and lower and probably alignment before condemning wheelbearings... Just a suggestion.. :innocent:

So I replaced the front wheel bearings about 9 months ago with genuine Ford items and

when I go for a drive today the drivers side is as noisy as and sounds ready to collapse.

How long is it reasonable to expect a f*cking wheel bearing to last.

Go back to HQ Holdens or XA Falcons and they would last 20 years as long as you pulled them out and re-greased them a few times.

I would not have done 10,000 ks since I replaced these little cuntox's.

I wont be giving the muppets at Ford my $ this time though. :finger:

Shoulda bought a f***n Nissan :censored:

I feel better now.......

Seriously though these things eat wheel bearing like nothing else.

Buy and FG that should fix once and for all.:roflmbo:

Out of curiosity, my BA, with '2' Race Seats, Glass Bonnet and lighter Rims, with Driver and full Tank of Gas, weighs in at 1920kg.

- Driver has heavy Bones!

that's a sh*t load of weight to haul around!

I call Bearings, Pads and Rotors 'consumeables'! these Days!

And I totally agree with 'Cobramad'!

- These Cars are built to 'spec' only!

I do around 12,000km/3 Months around Town and average '3' Track Days for the period.

As a rule, my front Bearings are starting to fall apart at this point!

I all fairness though, I think the extreme temperature on Track Days and the fact I drive around with 4 degrees front negative Camber is the real killer!

I have spoken to the owner of the winning Brute Ute team and others in the same Class and they get virtually a full Race season out of bog stock front Bearings!

- With 5 degrees front Camber!

But, they don't do the extra daily kilometers I do!

I did check out another Sydney based Bearing manufacturer, but I was force-fed complete Bullsh*t and walked away!

- I have resigned myself to replacing the stock items on a regular basis!

It is a lot easier than being someone's 'test Bunny' at my expense!

Sorry for going on a bit!

- It doesn't take much to fire me up these Days!
