180 000 km from ours and now our bf 11 is at 100000 no issues,having worked on these since they come out I have only ever replaced about a dozen or so even seen taxis do 500000 on them.

You may find the real problem is to do with the stub axle or as suggested the wheel of set the other issue is wheel alignment and how the car is driven.

Taxis getting 500,000 :shocked:

Have read plenty of people getting them done whilst under 50,000 ks (and more in the 20 - 30K range) on them so the taxi drivers seem to be lucky.

Offset isnt anything crazy.

What about the stub axle what have you seen there?

I drive it pretty easy and if it isnt able to handle what I do there is something wrong.

If the two surfaces arn't exactly flush. It's like doing a countershaft sprocket seal. Looks all good... works for five min then phhhft.

bent stub axle is what I am saying.

It loads the bearings up and they sh*t themselves.

One other thing maybe with the standard disks I found them to get hot very quickly when driven hard,

Excessive heat may also be a contributing factor as well as if the grease is breaking down it wont lubricate.

Bought my BA with 80k on clock making 275rwkw and the factory brakes where useless, brake fade badly.

The first thing I changed was the front brakes to AP Racing and car has done 126k and never a problem with

bearings and I do drive it very hard, and making even more power now or well before the number 6 conrod broke.

Dont know if previous owner ever had bearings done, I havnt got any receipts showing so and have receipts for

numerous other mostly minor issues though.

What grease did you use also, maybe its not up to requirement same goes with factory spec'd grease.

Terrible that they fail with so low kms on them.. We have only replaced them when they are damaged thru accident and we probably regularly service anything up to 80 BA/BF Falcs from the day they appeared.. Search for another cause as Ian said... Maybe they were damaged during fitment?

Mines done 92000k and not a problem either. My standard wheels wont fit over my brakes and I toyed with spacers. Only 3-5mm but I was rightly warned that it would stuff my wheel bearings.

Like others I'm tipping if your wheel offset is not standard, theres your issue.

Seems very strange at such low KMs.

These are poorly made pieces of crap. I bought a set not long ago to fit up with a new set of discs, one had .005mm run-out, new. By the time that run-out got to the outer diameter of the disc it was nearly .008mm, way off. How many mechanics actually check run-out upon fitment, zero! Many shudder issues would come from here along with the dreaded steering wheel vibration.

You cannot "set" these incorrectly, they cannot be over tightened due to the nature of the bearing. They can be under torqued and this will cause preload issues and vibrations etc..

Heat would be the major cause of failure, they are packed Ford tight ass fashion with who knows what cheap crap grease. You can actually hear them start to get "noisy" rather fast, maybe the Ford supplier has changed along the way, but the quality has gone down the sh*tter over the years.
