and now 480+ on E85

CMS have had ALOT of E85 - XR6T experience lately, so if your keen to move to E85 , Joe knows his E85!

I think it would be fair if you would disclose your affiliation with cms

Yes mate I can do that, though you just have to browse my own forum section to see to see a lot of CMS / Rapidsystems talk.

I first met Joe about 7 years ago, he started tuning ED turbo that I had built, we went our separate ways until I started the FG.

Joe never tuned my BA xr6t, that was always tuned by CVperformance with awesome results.

Due to distance, CMS is a lot closer to me than cv so I've spent a lot of time with Joe.

Joe has used my Fg for his R&D tuning, which has helped him gain a huge knowledge for the fine tuning of our cars.

We have spent countless hours with my Fg on his dyno, spending hours and hours at night on small sections of tuning, a lot of areas that a lot of tuners see no need to change.

We spent a few weeks , road tuning cam table changes, we would make some changes, see if it made any visible change on the dyno, then I would drive it in daily traffic over a few days to see if there was any accual feel or seat of the pants change... Usually there was, maybe boost came on sooner, midrange picked ect... Sometimes no change or worse, more lag lol but you never know without trying and living the the change in real life.

One thing we, well I did, was kill the original g6 motor, no 6 rod out the side of the block!

Now this wasn't a result of Joes tuning, it was running a tune of joes but I had it running ALOT more boost , that it was well out of the hands of Joes tune lol 35-40psi in fact.

I ran it at 30psi for a few week, this was in my early days of running E85, through the xcal I could change fuel and timing to suit the extra boost, but really I could not go more than 28psi and have a decent AFR... 30psi would start to read 13:1 ( I have a very accurate AEM wide band 02 sensor gauge in the console, so monitoring afrs was never guesse work).

Later on I tried a 35psi hit on the freeway, ran smooth but at 14:1, still felt stupidly powerful, frying the tyres at 120kays in 4th lol

A few more big hits of 35plus psi gave a big lean misfire, like a big cough through the intake... Time to stop I thought until we can change the tune to command more boost.

The turbo I used at this stage was a Garrett gt45/96r, low mounted , rapid v2 ic kit, custome exhaust 3.5inch, twin 044s ect... Nothing to fancy, just set up well.

The next day I start it up and hear the tell tale knocking of a bent rod at idle... Drove it for a few more weeks ( very light knock) until it went bang around the corner from CMS

The car sat in CMS for ages while I procrastinated about what motor I wanted and so on.

My goal was a high compression motor, 10:1 maybe 11:1, tuned on E85 and running as much boost as we felt safe.

But, rather than buy high comp pistons and see what happens, I chose a low Kay Egas Fg motor straight from a smashed taxi.

The amount of guys that came in and laughed at the idea of a taxi motor for a turbo application was huge... But it's high comp mate, it'll ping blah blah lol

Anyway, 10.7:1 is the comp , I used the g6 head and cams, so just the taxi bottom end, being only 20kay old and lpg, it was like new inside.

As for the head, I'm no expert of porting heads but anyone that knows of the well renowned CMS ported E series heads, will understand how well Joe can make kws for a die grinder... So with my new teacher calling the shots, I ended up with sore hands and arms but an awesomely ported head.

Anyway, end result is easy 460kw on a medium boost level (20psi)

Awesome instant NA power at idle... Bang it half throttle at the lights and it arcs the tyres up befor boost comes on... Then boost hits and it's off.

Back on topic, CMS tune and work on my car, they sell and promote my products, I promote and sell their tuning and mechanical work.

Go there and get your car sorted and tuned the way you like it.

All the tuners here are great, some you'll get along with better so best to get out there and pay em a visit and judge for your self

Cheers

Chris

CMS and only CMS for me with my Ford.

I did go to another tuner and Sydney that I had trouble with, I won't mention.

I bit the bullet and tried another tuner. CMS is was...

Joe is a really nice guy and has time for people, his prices I find reasonable and really works with your budget.

Really happy with my results and I'm going back for more power. Also with Chris on side for all the parts I need I found in handy.

Also his only Ford specialist, you only see Fords when you are there!

(My car left with 347atw)

Sas tuning in silverwater is great tuner, he had done one of the first ruf Porsche in Australia and made it run off the factory computer. Broke porsches computer program and made 3.4 911 engine in boxster make 196 rwkw Na basically standard. Made my normally Na to turbo conversion xr6 turbo run without taking it to ford and getting them to preprogram it. He made is own Program up and still has security program. made my beast from not running to 390rwkw and will wheel spin in 4th gear by easien on the gas without clutch help, it runs on pump fuel at 18psi and still let's me get roughly 450 to 600kms to a tank
