My FG XR6T Ute is 6000km young. I've only taken it out on the highway a few times now, and noticed when I hit about 105km there is a deep droning noise. It goes away the further away I am from 105km. It doesn't matter what gear I'm on so it's not an exhaust drone (revs are different).

I took a video clip of it, don't think it's too clear, I'll try figure out how to upload it, and I'll take it to Ford as well.

Any ideas?

What tyres do you have on it? Try different tyre pressures just to eliminate it.

I had the Dunlop Sp 3000 on my BF when I got it. These are the standard issue.

They had a vibration at certain speeds that made the car and absolute pig to drive sometime. Changed tyres and it was a new car.

Give that a try anyway, it wont cost you amnything and you eliminate one thing.

One other thing, you havent got a wife or girlfriend cracken the sh1ts when you go over 100 have you???? Only jokin man. :stirthepot:

Mate I read a post somewhere once where a guy was whinging that at 160k his car made this god awful scream. No one could work it out. Then he came back and said "fixed it" Everyone wanted to know the fault, PCV valve, turbo bearing, exhaust, wheel bearing. He said, "nah, just kicked the wife out the passenger seat and it all went quite". :roflmbo:

Good luck champ.

I have a 30k FG ute and it has the drone at 107kph, starts about 105 and is gone by 109.

I think someone once posted a suggestion about changing the lubricant in the diff. I've not tried it nor had a need to but you might want to search for it on this forum. Some name brand lubricant helps get rid of it I think.
