I have a manual 2005 BA MkII with a custom tune, air intake, valve springs, and intercooler that makes 250rwkw.

I have never run the car at the track, so I its hard to say what it would be capable of.

I know that Stock vs Stock the FG XR6T is about 0.9sec quicker than BA XR6T 0-100km/h and also to the quarter mile.

Given that my BA is modified I was wondering which would be quicker? I am thinking that perhaps they would be about even?

Jake.

Jake,

That's a very difficult question to answer. Depends on a lot of factors (transmission mods, tune, tyres, km traveled, etc). On paper they should both have around the same power so similar 0-100km and 1/4 mile times are expected.

A stock FG will handle much better and therefore will drive far better in every way.

Bottom line is that - with enough time and money - you can make your car faster than a Ferrari, but at the end of the day it will still be a BA Falcon.

One of my customers with a similar configuration and numbers ran 12.3 @ 113 mph BA Auto, Ebay cooler, springs, injectors, tune. 246 rwkW on Dynamic Test Systems Pro Dyne using SAE- J1349.

12.3 @ 113 is very impressive for those mods! I assume that this is not on street tyres?

My assumption was that:

Stock BA XR6T has been run by the magazines at the quarter mile at approx 14.0sec (~210rwkw)

Stock FG XR6T has been run by the magazines at the quarter mile at approx 13.1sec (~235rwkw)

The FG has a smaller turbo and less lag, therefore the peak power does not tell the whole story

and it would get the quarter in around the same time as a 250rwkw BA - with the larger turbo.

Obviously, a 12.3 sec BA would destroy a stock FG XR6T.

Stock fg's are running well into the 12's

A stock street car running a 12 will be quicker on the street than one that's run with mt's or slicks at the drags and just managed a 12.3

Totally stock low km warmish day into strong head wind mine ran 110.62 mph and 113.35 mph same conditions tune only I'd have my money on the FG if it were vs a BA the lights over a few hundred m

Edit manual you say.... Well a zf will rape you!

Ok, so it seems that perhaps the FG would be roughly equivalent to my BAII. I think I need to take one for a test drive. I'm impressed by the fact that stock it would be equivalent to my mdified beast. I'm looking to upgrade in the next 12 months, and love the FG with the 19" rims. Jake.
