Yeah it was pretty easy I did it in the shed at home with basic hand tools and was the first time I pulled one apart. AS Spoolxr6 said just mark it all first or take a photo of it for when you put the new cartridge in. Good luck with it!

Well I missed out on that core/cartridge as well. Not having much luck with this ATM .

After looking around I have found a few used or new gt35r's for sale that have the compressor/exhaust housings on already but are externally gated.

Is is possible to get a gt35r and then remove the existing exhaust housing and fit my internally gated 1.06 housing.

Most of these turbos seem to come with a compressor housing of .70AR where as my current one is .50 could I just leave the larger housing on ??? would there be any benefit or negative to doing this if it is possible.

Cheers

You can swap the exhuast housing on them no problem. With the .70 you need to be running some decent boost through it to benefit. Some say it creates some lag.

So if I am running stock boost at the moment it might have a negative effect with more lag. So would this be more than a 500rpm difference in lag ???

Also when I get the car tuned then there could be a benefit but only if I am running decent boost(guessing above 15psi)

I assume I could just replace the compressor housing as well from my old turbo essentially using just the core of the new one.

The way I see it is if I leave the larger housing on then it would save some time rebuilding the turbo and I might have the future benefit when tuning the car. With the negative being a marginal increase in lag ? Also would my stock pipe work need to be changed by using the larger comp housing ???

Cheers for the help/advice :beerchug:

Most .07 covers are 4" inlet which requires quite a bit of reworking to install properly

iotlek, PM sent.

Call PER4MANZ turbochargers :spoton:

Thanks for the info never heard of PER4MANZ turbochargers so Ill give them a call. :spoton:

So hiddeous if I end up getting a new/used gt35r turbo I should replace both the compressor/exhaust housings as keeping a .70 comp housing will just cause other issues with lag/pipework that really wouldn't be worth the effort unless I plan to modify the other parts of the car to match this.

I would try and source a core, if you cannot source that, a 2nd hand turbo. If it has a .07 cover installed change it and the back plate, Sell the .07 cover and fit the "new" turbo. I cant see the value in going too a .07 cover with out also going too the large comp wheel.

I only just sold me old turbo minus the exhaust housing. This sold for 480 with 110k on it.
