Thanks Conrad I have replied to your PM

Also was wondering what is the better Turbo Oil filter

MS XR6 Turbo Oil Feed Kit Including Filter http://www.mscn.com.au/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=631

or

FORD BA BF TURBO OIL LINE FILTER KIT EARLS XR6 FPV F6 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FORD-BA-BF-TURBO-OIL-LINE-FILTER-KIT-EARLS-XR6-FPV-F6-/170501427061?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27b2ad4f75

They are both about the same price but I was just wondering if one is better than the other or if they are pretty much the same. With the filter as if I replace it every time I replace the oil I would obviously want something that is easy to get a hold of.

Cheers

I have just been through this too. I ended up getting a brand new core from US for $855 delivered. My housings were untouched though. I also bought the EARLS filter kit which I will hopefully have fitted tonight. I'm not too sure about the frequency of changing the in line filter but I wouldnt think it would need to be replaced every oil change.

If its ok where did ya get the new core from ? do they have a website ?

The white mark is there as a reference point when balancing. There was someone on here selling a replacement new core for $1300 in the classifieds. Bargain jump on it!

Just checked the classifieds appears its' already sold :crybaby:

I have been looking around at turbo's and I assume the direct replacement for the standard turbo is the gt3582r ??? or is the Ford different ?

Are there other turbo's which would work and bolt into the existing location ? I just want to make sure I am looking for the right replacement.

I don't mind if I have to change my inter-cooler piping etc... if needed.

Cheers for any advice

I found the replacement cartrige on ebay. The replacement part number (cartridge only) is a 706451-5005. Check this link.. The turbo is classed as a GT3540 or GT3582R it just depends what size / style housing setup you have on it but im not entirely sure on this so best if someone else explains.

So with something like that I would just remove my compressor and exhaust housings and install them onto the core (cartridge) plus the waste-gate actuator ??

Having never done anything like that before is it something difficult or something I could do in my shed at home ???

Cheers for the help

Just mark the exhaust housing and compressor housing to ensure they go back on the same way. Apart from that it can all be done in the shed using basic hand tools. Even stripping the core can be done in the shed. The only thing that needs to be out sourced on turbo rebuilds is balancing. Just make sure the housings aren't badly scored. If the front wheel has slightly touched and scratched the front housing just use some 1200 sand paper and give it a light clean up.
