Hey guys

I'm new here.

Got a BA MKI turbo and thinking bout upgrading the intercooler.

I have injector (Bosch 440cc), internal fuel (040), intake etc and a 100cpi cat, and crow valves to go in.

I would like to do things properly but on a budget.

Intercooler kits cost heaps. Have any of you guys paid to get the piping fabbed?

I have a nice cooler lined up. Anypone in Vic, you guys recommended?

Also is Sniper tuning any good? Or should I just go SCT?

Sorry for all the noob questions, which I am sure have been answered before.

I'm a Mits guy for years so sorry. I messed with my GSR for years and being cheap was not the best move.

Mal

Best option would be the hdi kits, not bad for $650 or what ever they are.

Sniper tuning it will he fine although the sct way is the best way to do it.

If the intercooler has better flow than the one that you replaced it with you may have an increase of volume of air or an increase in boost pressure. Either one will result in leaner combustion mixtures if the fueling hasn't been adapted to the new air flow which can lead to engine failure. So good at least just have a run on the Dyno to check A/F mixtures. A bigger intercooler will not keep your engine temperature cooler. It cools the intake air being forced into the engine resulting in a more combustible mixture of Air/Fuel. Colder, denser air has a higher percentage of oxygen present than what hotter air does.

^^^^^^^This

For the OP, id stick with SCT, as it has proven itself and most tuners use the software. I have not heard much about sniper to comment. From the sounds of it your doing everything right, HDI from what ive heard is pretty good for modest power I.e low-mid 300rwkw.

Either way these cars require tuning for modifications most of the time which is different to a lot of conventional turbo cars from the 90's

Good luck and welcome :icon_ford:

you wont need a plenum for 350,, my mate was making 380 with standard inlet

I wouldn't be trying to get to 350 on a tight budget, could be a bad idea. Especially in a BA.

But if you do want 350 you might be better off buying a bigger cooler now rather then having to buy another one later.
