New Tuner.

There is no way your tune is safe. 17psi, not enough fuel, and it sounds like they wound back the timing to stop it pinging. Only a matter of time before it drops a leg.

Tunehouse will sort it for you, if I were in sydney I wouldnt take it anywhere else.

If it was me I'd go see Jim he's got alot of runs on the board & you very rarely if ever hear anything like this going on. It may cost you a tune but that's alot cheaper than a new motor plus any other damage it may cause.

Good luck bud hope ya get it soughted.

Tell us who it is and we can help you get it sorted out quicker :)

What's the go with so many of you naming C&V as most likely tuner? Have they dropped the ball so much lately?

I agree with Possum on the credibility of some Sydney tuners, as I have experienced Tunes from three of them so far. I hope he hasn't gone to Pingtune, sorry I meant to say Intune Motorsports.lol. When I bought my car the previous owner had a custom tune by them and when I went back I asked him to take it for a drive and let me know what that noise was (detonation), lol, he said it's normal for these things to ping a bit. I said thank you and left there as fast as I could.

Mate if you are still having issues go and speak to Jim @ Tunehouse both Possum and I have 11 second daily drivers tuned there and he will not leave the car if he does not feel comfortable with the Tune, let alone pinging? Is it possible you got a bad batch of fuel or was it doing it straight away from the Tune Shop?

Hey mate, it was no chance that it was a bad batch of fuel,I fueled up twice,at to different service stations(shell v power)a mate fueld up his 400hp 13b turbo along side me an he had no dramas at all,now il be honest with you man,its the tune that's causing my issue, like possum said, they must have put a generic tune from an other car, with similar mods, wacked it on the dyno,an ran it up twice only, now to me that is not a tune.Anyways this morning id woke up,told them the car was pinging,AND hitting 25psi,bring it back they said,so I went to start the car in the morning an relised when my windows were up I could hear knocking noises from some were, get farked I said(motor),I took it there told them about that aswell, they said that it is coming from my flexplate, relax its not your motor, ok I thought,so what do they do, they grab my flash box throw in a tune an said go an test that,so I went an took it for a run,an its hitting 22psi, an running like a slug, took it back told them that, they grab the box back, threw in 2 more new tunes, one with a lower boost setting, just in case the other one is still boosting high,spoolxr6 I wish I went with jim at tunehouse, what a bad mistake I made not to.

Mother f*&kers. All they care about is a quick dollar. What about our hard earned cash that goes into these?? Mate I went through exactly the same thing as you just have. I don't know if you went to CV because you didn't say yet but I did. They missed a boost leak on my crossover pipe and told me it was a weak actuator causing the problem. I drove the car and picked up on the boost leak straight away when I drove out their driveway. They test drove it before they gave the car back to me and they didn't pick up on it?????? I tightened the hose clamp and they retuned it. The car was slugish and was going through heaps of fuel. When I called them they said its probably because I am driving it too hard. I took the car to Jim and it was like he gave me back a different vehicle. Now you have to bite the bullet, cut your losses from this tuner and move forward. You will not regret tuning it @ Tunehouse, myself and many other members on here can vouch for that. Good luck mate as I know what it's like.

BTW a quick compression check will identify a bent rod but it may be the flex plate as you were told. A bent rod wont make noise unless you have spun the big end bearing, but it will give you a lower compression reading.
