Made a few flashing's for work (chippie) and thought why can't I make a custom airbox. The fg standard setup is a bucket load better than ba/f. I actually didn't like it at first to be honest but keep in mind, I'm an old fart. The wife (god love her) hated it - said it mate it the car sound 'cheap'. Bitch! Anyway, it got me thinking. Given I run the plazmaman inlet muffler replacement, I wonder how she'd go with the OEM part fitted back on so I did it this arvo. With the OEM inlet muffler refitted, the annoying 'swirling' noises under light pedal or just on boost were virtually gone. Still get the blow off 'psss' and 'tu tu's', but a lot quieter. The downside is, you lose spool noise which is why most of us piss the OEM muffler off. I've refitted the plazmaman pipe as I also prefer the under bonnet apperance with it on.I don't know if a turbo side would suffer from the same problem given the removal of the crossover etc. All I can say is, if you don't like a lot of induction noise, don't run a muffler replacement pipe and Growler combo. The Growler with inlet muffler installed however was fine.Cheers, Bomber. Edited 07/08/11 08:19 AM by bomber

I would have thought running an under battery pipe + remove the foggie would be better?

Much easier to live with now.Has made me want new rear mufflers to shut the car up. Edited 29/08/11 09:24 AM by dre

My car is stock at the moment, so perhaps that's why its not very noticeable? On another note, I noticed that my BOV (which I have vent to atmo) is pushing air out at idle....WTF ??? I think I am going to block it off as suggested by Dillz.

Just trying to get a clear picture,.. cheers

In particular a stainless kit (if you have an fg!! No b series afaik) Contact stainonegger on here as he makes them. Gives the whole lot, pipe, pod, air box to enclose it and battery relocation

If you want long? Highoitched dose a short bend and pod is the go. With a 4" intake it's a long deep slow flutter.
