Just thought id add some of my experiences to this thread.

Had my Car tuned by C&V a long time ago now. RWKW was limited due to valve springs. After a couple of years I return and had the upgraded valve springs added. and ended up with close to 260RWKW. With the extra power I was spinning the wheels to much under power, so for more traction I put some new wheels on my car. I am running Yoko Advan 275's on the rear. So tight a fit that I had to remove plastic lugs holding wires on the inside of the wheel wells.

About a month after I put the weels on. Planetarys went. This is running a edit that slams the gears to the point that you think that a hammer is being used to change em.

been running on new gearbox now for over a year and no problems, on the same tune. Was told that the planetarys are just weak in some of these boxes so its a bit of pot luck as to how much power they can take before they go bang bang.

Ford Au planateries are stronger than std ba ones, that's all that's been upgraded in your box.

Traction is also the the number1 killer on planateries, ive never had one let go on mine as yet after 3 yrs.

Killed 4 BTR's rebuilt by two different reputable shops, 3 of em snapped the rear planetary and the other was C1 failure,

I do love my power skating and as allot of you are saying I never broke one while skating was always as it firmly shifted between 2nd an 3rd or 3rd an 4th going onto the hwy

Had my BTR rebuilt buy Tim at Bayswater Auto's (cryo'd AU RP and C1mods) and haven't had a drama since Very Happy

My btr box was build by tony dominello, it is 2 years old now, 50000ks on the box, has ran mid 10 second quarter mile passes an has never missed a beat, an I thrash it hard, joe at cms has been tuning it an he has perfected the shift points on the box.

Dominello an cms tuned is a win win.

Ive done 120,000 kms on my 4 speed, and have only changed the planateries this year, Phil from bayswater showed me the bands and are still like new and put them back in.

Coming up to 5 years in December and still going strong.
