I was told there isnt much out there for them, unlike the old Expensive Daewoo 4 speed where there is heaps of aftermarket gear for them...does this sound correct.....you can buy electronic shift kits for them there are 3 stages from Shiftkits.com.authere's not alot you can do to them, bigger aftermarket transcooler, fit au pump, clutches, cryogenic the hard parts, billet servo Edited 21/12/10 05:22 AM by RIP_HSV

I actually drive mine like a full manualised auto.Service it twice a yr.All that's done to it is au pump, planeteries, modified servo, and a couple of other small things. Mine has a slight high pitched whine in first. There is some good info here especially the link above containing all the vids, BUT, alot of the examples given are from cars running big power. No one has answered the reliability question as to how much the "standard" box in reasonable condition, can withstand on say a mildly modified daily driver (aprox 250rwkw). If I was to run a trans cooler and do a yearly service can this box be reliable with sort of power?

Don't quote me on that though..

If I was to run a trans cooler and do a yearly service can this box be reliable with sort of power?Have heard of tune only cars killing btr's if you dont want to break it leave it stock or just a tune I would say 250rwkw's would be as far as you should go after fitting a bigger cooler, from personal experience my stock btr went with 270ish rwkws (tune, injectors and exhaust system) about 12 times back to trans shop for repairs a mate of mine went to just over 300 rwkws and lasted at that for approx 2 months before buying a built box and that's lasted 6 months so far, the tune has alot to do with longevity of these boxes less low down torque and a more progressive torque curve seems to help!! turbotrana Member 2,586 Member For: 21y 7m 18d Gender: Male Posted 21/12/10 12:05 PM Share Posted 21/12/10 12:05 PM IMO the best way to increase the life of this box is to disconnect the S3 and S4 solenoids so that the box shifts hard. The so called shift kit by playing with the S5 solenoid is not the way to get everything shifting as hard as possible and doing it thru the tune isn't either. I have detailed this mod previously so not going to explain it in detail again. If you are really electronic literate you can get this mod to work just under load so that soft shifting during normal driving and hard under load.
