Rusty has manual fg and loves it...

Can't be much different to t56 can it?

Maybe they run a twin plate clutch with the GTs?

Sounds like your are keen for the manual, go for it bud!

Never regreted getting mine in a manual :buttrock: my F6 box stock was waaaaay better than my old VE GTS 6spd manual box - which had a rip shifter. Ford have the manuals sorted in the FG's

If the V8's have the same single plate clutch as the F6 apparently they are good for 360kw's for street duties

The clutch only seems heavy and the shift work tight because you are used to pressing little buttons with a plastic stick prentending to be sporty in your xrt. All this time your left leg has done nothing. its weakened.

Classic signs of being in an auto too long.

It aint all about straight line acceleration. There are corners in roads too, tricky ones that require good gear selection and clutch work, going .1 of a second quicker to 100km/h doesn't do it for me. Its the whole control experience that makes manuals such a joy to drive. that is unless you mostly drive in traffic. I dont live in a city, so manual suits me perfectly.

:stupid: s, as much as I love the ZF if I wasn't stuck in the rat race I'd be in a manual.

...and going back to the point of this thread it'd be a pretty hard choice to make in terms of a blown GT regardless of the circumstances. So as usual I've essentially contributed nothing. :spit:

Mate I would go the MANUAL for sure!!!

The FG 6060 box is great, tough box and very well suited to high HP engines. I had a ZF F6 and it was soooo boring. I changed from a BA F6 (manual obviously) to a BF F6 auto mainly due to all the hype around the ZF auto.

I drove it for two years and I must admit it is a good auto. Problem for me is I like DRIVING the car. Every day I look forward to driving my FG manual. Yes it's clunky, there's driveline shunt at low speeds, the clutch is heavy......but every time you go up or down through the gears at pace, the experience puts a smile on my face that no auto could.

With the GT the manual would be even better. No lag, instant power on tap between gears, the exhaust note!! I can see that there is a market for an AUTO GT - I'm just not that market. Don't confuse sequential shift with a manual - they are worlds apart. I always laugh when auto people say "you can change in manual mode if you like". What a load of BS. I tried to drive my auto in manual mode but is just ain't the same. Slipping clutch out of corners....turbo spooling....blip the throttle on downshifts to match engine speed. That is driving. It's a skill worth practicing and one that makes driving a pleasure.

It really does depend on what YOU want the car to do. Coming out of a manual I couldn't wait to get an auto as I sometimes just want to get in and go home after work. That said the manual in the hills was brilliant but I'm not retired and I don't own a racetrack so I chose the auto. I've owned a supercharged vt and had to go auto as I didn't have the leg strength to truly enjoy it.

@seduced; I know you were only joking (I think?), but it does feel a tad tight compared to the Holden's manual - not in terms of how much power it can hold, etc etc, but just the way the gear box is.. Maybe I've gotten used to the Auto, but I even had a few mates come to the dealership I was working at and drove an FG XR8 in manual and said the same thing - the clutch feels strong, the gears are a tad tight..

HOWEVER, now for the prices..

Plate #22 - GT in ZF Auto: $75,000 d/a

- Nitro (Blue)

- Black Stripes

- Cloth Interior

- NO Reverse Camera

- Chrome Door Trims (from GT-E - request to be fitted)

- 20% Window Tint

- Will pay for my Flight up and Accommodate a night

Plate ### - GT in Manual: $79,990 d/a

- White

- Black Stripes

- Leather Interior

- Reverse Camera

- No Chrome Door Trims

- No Tinted Windows

I tried working down Etheridge Ford on the White Manual, but they won't budge from the $79k mark. I tried a few things, including telling them there's others with leather going for $76k on Carsales.com.au, but his excuse what that being it's a brand new car, they don't get any incentives to lower the price.. *shrugs*

Anyone have any good strategies in getting them to drop the price? I have a hefty deposit, so I hoped that would convince them to drop a few G's, but I haven't mentioned how much yet...

I have found diggerent sales people at the same dealership say very very different things When it comes to discounts. If you don't get the right deal put of one wait til lunchtime and seek another. Helped alot with the purchase if my Mazda.

Or maybe go meet the sales guy at lunch and give him some cash and ask for a good deal... Tried that one at jb hi fi and got HEAPS off the best price,,
