any real difference in tuning im talking more along the lines is the ba only have one sensor or does ba and bf run off the same computer, same amount of sensors etc.

because I have heard the ba only has one sensor on the inlet and the bf has on the inlet and exhaust

The BA has an oxygen sensor in the exhaust. The BF has 2.

Sensors won't make any difference to performance.

One thing that will make a bit of a difference is the cam timing.

Both the BA and BF have variable cam timing, but the BA's cams are varied together. The BF can vary each cam independently.

BF's have the stronger conrods from the F6.

I can't remember if that applies to all BF's or if it was a mid model change.

One of the other guys will know.

And valve springs too.

Yeah if you gonna be modifying it your best bet is to get an 06/06 on wards BF or even an 07 just to be on the safe side.

Prob a silly question that has been answered many times...

But what is actually better in the F6/BF in the bottom end?

I know the valve springs are no good in the BA's but just interested.

Also if the bottom end is limiting in the BA's, how far can I push them. I know the trans is limiting ( have a built 4sp)

The F6 has stronger rods and the BF has the better valve springs. Better for chasing big power, but honestly there is never 100% insurance when chasing big power. These engines will happily make 300rwkw (BA and BF) and for me that's plenty. Any more and you better have an awesome tune + all other bits and cash for engine work if it goes bang. Alot wont but some do, regardless if its an F6 motor or not.

BF being on the left obviously!

F6 has better rods and springs, 06/06 BF and later (have seen some limited conjecture over the date) XR's have them both as well.
