_John_ Member 287 Member For: 14y 2m 21d Gender: Male Posted 19/12/10 05:49 AM Share Posted 19/12/10 05:49 AM I set about filling up on the metho by running the tank out as far as I could. Went for a final drive last night just to a lil saterlite township, on the way home I just was thinking and driving as one does, barely doing 100 kph. fella in a green FG ute overtook me and about a min later whooomp! clobbered a grey kangaroo. Must have had a bar cause he didn`t stop. Cheers, mate So I used the aircraft fitting and hose that Kyle and jamie ( 6Boost & forced performance ) gave me on my surge tank and hooly dooly didn`t that petrol come outa that hose into a container! had the tank empty in no time.. I changed the fuel filter and I dunno why but it was an unmitigated bastard.. Even with a flare end spanner, I ended up with my brother under there holding it with a big shifter and I had a pair of vise grips and Crack! finally got it undone. My car is as new underneath and I even cleaned the threads with a lil wire brush and used cricket piss on it. It was tight all the way to the end too, and same going on. Got it all done, then I tested the percentage of petrol / ethanol using a big test tube, some of the old girls` ironing demineralised water and a math formula. 84 and a bit percent Alcohol, cool. Started it up and let it run, man talk about steam! it is raining full on here but during the cold start running it was belching it out. Cool..I went and filled up with E85 at the servo, had the chick yell out : IS YOUR CAR FLEX FUEL ( or wtf ever she said ) CAPABLE???give her the thumbs up and filled. It was $1.09.9 a litre, hardly cheap. However BP Zoom is normally 1.45 when I fill on weekends. So meh. I went for a drive down the highway.it runs nice at sane settings, its PISSING rain like hell.. gave it a few prods and yeah its good. How good? dunno.Need to talk to Jamie about the tuning and stuff. It seems `nicer ` on E. But yeah, there`s lotsa stock stuff under the hood, my turbo has never been off the car let alone modified apart from the actuator, stock air box etc. 411 rwkw though on E85.. heh..One thing I found interesting, when I went to fill the container I took out the servo first up, I notice this dripping from the nozzle. where the hose connects to the hand peice of the bowser. I thought it was rain or what ever but then oi.. that's cold.. it was stuff all and it dried quick. Some borket was in the servo said to the owner " hey Graham ya coffee machines leakin` again " I said: so is ya E85 pump.. He was like: what! again??? I`ll put the do not use sign on it.. its always happening, he says.. They have to come and replace an O ring or a seal. That was a bit different.. I`m just gonna see how it goes. Is it cheaper? I don`t see it. Not yet anyway. But that's not why I filled up on, is it now?

With my WIDE margin of safety tune its all still good.

As I`ve stated I have paid 1.45 and over for BP 98 on sunday.I asked the guy at the Caltex was he selling much he sorta nodded and went yeaaaaaah a bit y`know.. Improving. Don`t suppose he`s gonna say awwww its screwed I`m selling none. The more hippies that buy flex fuel Commodores hopefully it might get cheaper? I`m not really buying it to save money to be truthfull. if I do save money it`d be a bonus. I just wanna see what happens using the crap basically. Minimal mods... And that was not 100% propane gas... That would deliver much more...

I don`t like gas much personally, the bottle is intrusive for me and my car. I fully ackowledge what can be done with it though. It`s just not for me. Not right now anyway. _John_ Member 287 Member For: 14y 2m 21d Gender: Male Posted 20/12/10 10:37 AM Author Share Posted 20/12/10 10:37 AM After a hellish 11 hour day at the salt mine. Err.. sand mine. I mowed the yard, put all my tools away ( had the handle come off my tool box, lol it 50 kg.. ) had a shower and decided to go for a drive road spin.Spin.. yeah.. It was showing 19C on my ICC which is nice I had a few prods of the pedal and goodness me.. Car needs wider tyres. It goes like, I dunno like a 1000cc sports bike. It`s mental. But it also runs really really nicely. Like in all driving conditions. So for performance I give the E85 and E85 tune of course, top marks. For all conditons driving niceness I give it equal billing.early days though, so far yeah I like it. Turbo cars just love this stuff - the knock resistance of it is just perfect for the huge effective compression ratios once under boost
