Bazza,

the dealer said Ford would probably just get BTR to give them a new diff for my car. so your friend is probably right. I know even new cars can have problems, but when you buy a car that costs nearly $50k you don't expect to be replacing diffs at 3,000km. it should not happen.

cheers, scott

Well after having a Ford Tech of 25 years experience drive my car on Wednesday at New Oak Ford, l am pretty much resolved to the fact that all the clunking that comes from the rear of our car is 'normal'. He actually thought our car was pretty good and that it certainly was within spec. l told him that the dealer locally here had come up with 25mm of slcak and he reckoned that sounded about right. A lot of the noise is supposedly due to the IRS, not just the diff.

So it looks like its normal for a BA and l will just have to live with it. :nugget:

I was told by someone who should know that for the first 2 yrs any diff probs are fixed through BTR,(or whatever they are called now) For the 3rd year of the warranty the Dealer can have it fixed at an independant workshop and Ford cop the $$$$.

With my last 2 Ford/BTR Lsd's I have let my dealer have a few go's and then put up with it until yr 3 when all of the problems seem to vanish when they have another go at it.

Cheers, Bazza.

Well looks like I'll wait and do that wait till the 3rd year of warrenty. Sounds like the only option to get our diffs fixed properly once and for all.

I haven't had any problems with my turbo however I did have the first EB XR6 and the diff (LSD was standard on these as I recall), was rebuilt at around 80ks.

Scott 52,

Is your diff 'clunking' as well or has it just got a whine?  Let us know how you go at Centre Ford.

Mr Walker,

no clunking, just a whine at about 85-95 km/hr

chrislak> I've had one of those too! The only way I could "fix" it was to take the girlfriend with me whenever I drove that car - couldn't hear anything over HER whining heheheh.
