Has anyone else got a clucking noise from the Diff? I had the same problem in the AU3 XR6 Manual and I had it replaced. But the problem started about 3 weeks later. I have taken the XR6T back to the dealer and he said it is a whiplash noise and it is designed to do that. I don't remember it doing it when I picked it up. If I sit on 100 in 5th gear and take my foot off the accelerator and back on their is a clunk. Expensive Daewoo have the same problem and they have bough out an Anti-Chatter Kit. But from what I have heard the noise comes back after a short while. Has anyone Else Got This Problem?

Sounds to me like you have a fairly bad case of driveline shunt, just like we have :(

l am hoping Ford can fix it at the 3000km service as l find it unacceptable in a $50k car. There is one hill near home that when going down on cruise causes the shunt to be felt as the power comes on/off to maintain speed. l actually had trouble driving the car smoothly through the gears for the first few weeks because of it but have learnt to compensate for it now.

Take it to Ford and get them to check everythings in spec and let us know how you get on. l plan on doing the same next week and will let you know what they find.

I think this may be most noticable on the manual versions of the XR6T, as the auto comes on and off drive a lot softer.

I had this problem with my AU Fairmont Ghia V8 auto, but the XR6T is a lot better.

I can't believe they haven't fixed this problem yet

Yep, l think its pretty pathetic in a 50K car.

The car is great in every other area, it is really disappointing they didnt spend the money to sort this. Cant imagine how much slop will be in the driveline after 50000km.

l hope Ford release a fix for it.

Interesting that the driveline diff clunks and shaft whirring are still existent in the XR6-T's. I agree it is annoying but I've decided to leave mine alone as I bought my XR6 with 17k on the clock and now have put 14k. Seems the noise doesn't get any worse and doesn't seem to hinder performance.

Now that I know that every man and his dogs manual XR6 from AU onwards has the noises I'm not too worried. :D :D

Just for reference my diff isn't LSD and it still makes those cluncks. So I don't think those chatter kits would help.

But yeah when I first got the car the noises was uninspiring especially comming from a manual EF Wagon that had zero driveline noise.:cry:

I would of thought the 2 piece tailshaft would of solved most of the noises.
