Dont waste your money on Building the BTR they will break... Dominellos BTR's are a rip off just like the rest of them and yeah a few have survived making decent power for a while with alot of maintenance and part replacement but the majority dont and the one year warranty gets you about 20000 km's then what? you'll be better off in the long run going Turbo 400 or C4 or sell the car and buy a BF or FG with the ZF trans

I agree with RIP_HSV that the BTR is not a strong box no matter who builds it. I would never spend $ 4500 on these boxes. I was lucky to pick up a second hand built one cheap but other than that if it goes ill be straight onto a C4 or Turbo 400. I also know of a lot more failure than success stories from these built boxes even from these "reputable" transmission shops. If you do end up going a box from Dominellos ask him that if the box fails say twice in that year and he repairs it under warranty, then it happens again say the third time, ask him if he'll refund you the money?? I did and the answer was no refund. Why not? If I pay $ 4,500 and it keeps failing under warranty what happens after 1 year?? Obviously he doesn't have that much faith in his work. Mate give Norm a call from Northmead Autos and he will be happy to build a BTR for you and also confirm what I am saying about their inherent weaknesses no matter what you do to them. He can also let you know about a C4 conversion.

Possum, I also have a tune from Jim @ Tunehouse and it held well for about a year mate but when it decide to let go and flair it did. A good tune can only help just like on an engine but if the internals are weak you'll eventually stuff it. It's only a matter of time.

was your box build to hold your 370kw, good effort if it was standard.

While I agree that the BTR is not the strongest box in the world, how you drive it will go a long way towards longevity and reliability.

My box held 315rwkw-370rwkw for 2.5 years before it needed a freshen up. And even then, it was well under $100 in parts. I never boot it unless I've selected the gear I want first and OD never gets much of a workout. This was without a trans cooler using a non-synthetic oil

RVO in Dandenong built it BTW. Was about 3k.

I realise that and im not neive thinking it will last forever! Im simply amazed that it has held up still as when I drive it it cops a hiding and going to the drags etc
