+1 one that one. Don't really like the panda look. And the aftermarket front and rears are looking ok and much cheaper. And I dont want a rear fluffer or stripes anyway.

Spoke to a mate who sells HSV's today. Seems they are stopping all discounts on them. That can only help the GS's sales.

By the time I my lease is up 2012 the new rear end will be here and I will be back to square one. Bugger.

Plenty of people are opening their wallets to the GS. Most are after the raw performance without the bodykit, wheels, etc. If it was up to me I'd have a GS any day and spend the 15k left over on making it "my" car.

Hey Anchor -If I was keeping the car and looking to mod then the GS would be a great base. From what I know it wouldn't take much to tune the 315 into big numbers. It needs better brakes even from a cosmetic point of view. Suspension, brakes and tune - $15K would turn itinto a weapon and will eat any STOCK GT in the land. The problem is I'll be keeping it stock and moving on in 3 years.

I'm also not ashamed to admit I'm looking for a certain look and the 'sleeper' theory isn't for me. If I spend $60+k on a car I want peoiple to know its worth every cent. I know that's shallow but hey at least I can admit it.

I'm definitely taking your advice and waiting for new GTs in 2011. If I can't justify the extra coin the a Euro 3 F6 will do me very nicely.

Can I make one final comment on the SC V8? It really is the most detuned motor I have ever experienced. I know it's been said but the potential (even from the factory) seems to way more than the chassis/driveline can handle. I know this may sound weird but it's almost like this engine (in it's full capacity) is too good for the humble Aussie Falcon. With a decent tune, intercooler and enough fuel, this motor WILL destroy any current driveline in the Ford Aus toolbox. The other issue is tyres. Even stock the GS breaks traction at 3/4 throttle input so any extra power would only expose this shortfall further(particularly in the wet). The issue then becomes drivability. A driveline capable of safely handling 400rwkw is not very driver friendly and most day to day drivers would find it too harsh for road conditions. A decent set of rears (e.g. 275/30/20) will also add serious $$ to the cost of the car. If my crystal ball reads correctly I think this engine will become an after-market tuner's dream and only those willing to give up warranties and spend some coin on mods will ever see it's real potential.

Might extend my thoughts on the GS/GT debate, for what you seem to be looking for in a car I wouldn't try sell you a GS. It's not up on par or even close to the F6 in the way of exterior wank factor or interior features.

Sorry mate but I have to pull you up there - just what "interior features" is the GS not on par with the F6, considering the only actual difference is the colour of the dash and door spears, and some felt trimming on the door trims and console?

Doesn't the GS come standard with the monochrome screen while F6 (except ute) has colour standard?

Doesn't the GS get an XR style cluster rather then the Full FPV cluster? (haven't seen it so going from what I've heard people say).

Are the seats in the GS Different to those in the F6?

Colour screen is an option that anyone would choose. Dual zone climate control is also an option. Effectively the GS can have equivalent spec to the F6, and the shadow metallic finish in the GS dual zone package looks much better than the base model XR satin alloy that is the only choice in the F6 (and indeed the GT as well) IMO.

GS has the GT cluster.

Seats are no different in leather, slightly different trimming in cloth/pseudo suede on the F6, foam shape is the same across XR, GS, F6, and GT.

Personally I think given the fact that its the same engine mechanically, the GS must be compared to the GT for value. I reckon a GS with dual zone climate control, my carry over rims from my XR turbo (275 rears), and some electronic trickery sounds like a very sweet package. The only shortcomings then are brakes, suspension tweaks, and plastic frilly bits.

I'm comparing stock with stock, not adding features on etc. I try and sell from stock to get the extra money in my back pocket instead of waiting 3 months for a vehicle. If you were ordering a car, then yes you would option up a GS with the above.
