what's this filter like object on my CAI/scoop ?

factory FG XR part... it is some form of emissions/ sound muffler?

It allows hot air from the engine bay to enter the airbox.

On our, now sold, G6E Turbo I noticed an improvement by plating up this opening.

If anyone is after an XR8 airbox and snorkel I removed ours before I sold our G6E Turbo.

Why would they put that in?? Intake too noisy maybe?

as I thought it did. so I plated mine up. rather craply.. but its plated up. haha.

it must be similar to the 6T cone shaped compressor piping - for noise suppression.

Dyno junkie, is that snorkle the plated up one?

how much would you want for just the snorkle, and could I grab a photo of the plated section (if it is the plated up one)
