Winstor, how could a inline 6 be smoother than a shorter better balanced

More square engine.

Our i6 would have one of the longest cranks which is not well balanced

As it's not safe spinning over 6500rpm due to it's torsional twists and

Poor counter weight design not to mention it is just cast iron.

In comparisment the shorter in length and stroke steel coyote crank has the

Advantage in all those departments.

Also the less degrees of crankshaft revolution between combustion

Cycles will also help in smoother running.

There is one way to find a answer on the reliability is to see if anyone can

Get testing info from ford.

I have heard of testing from Ford before on the wot tests where

An engine is run till it stops.

If someone could find out the duration of each i6 and coyote it might

Just confirm how much more stronger and reliable the forged Coyote bottom end

Is compared to the cast I6.

Also nobody has mentioned the fact of engine block material how

It will have less head gasket sealing problems as head to block is same

Material and again shorter lengths less expansion differences.

As with cast iron block to alloy head.

according to what you are saying, the tyres will need to make a 1.1 second difference? for a F6310 to run 11.7 sec's ???

Not what I said at all......

Tyres are a part of it along with a tune.....

Not sure how you could misread what I said?

Far from it. It is just not the quality of what the

Coyote has on offer.

The crank in the I6 is the big problem. It's why the motor rattles itself loose.

It's never going to be a rever either. Not with that long a stroke. But that is what gives the T its grunt so low. Any why it has so little lag. Just a pitty it sounds like a wet fart lol

In order to make a fair comparison between the new GT335 and the F6310 and compare apples with apples, would someone like to tell us what is the fastest time recored for a F6310 on a tune and M/T's alone?

Not sure of a tuned one with M/T's, but there is a stock one running 12.3

The I6 is an old engine, been revamped a fair few times but still old technology upgraded.

Dont know about the the v8 may the same thing, but not sounding that way.

Not belittling the I6 good engine great power, easy to mod. But the idea of a truely sorted Ford V8 with the same modding characteristics and reliabilty for the mild to not so mild upgrade. Not to mention that its not as heavy as the old V8 is drooool city. Add to that Mr Bean talking forced induction as well, well I am off to play with me pen*s.

Clearly I'm invisible or my posts are all written in white font on a white background. As I've said before, the miami is a better engine than the I6, and the cars are faster. However, the limiting factor for both powertrains is the driveline/chassis, hence the gap cannot be opened up (detuned, no intercooler, etc) as much as it was/could be, for the sake of durability. Ford is happy for you to tinker in the aftermarket, just don't come sooking when things break - Ford designs and releases a config they can back (and even then there are special causes as is well known!), and sometimes the compromise must be performance.

End of the day it comes down to what you prefer to drive - I think its fantastic that there is a genuine choice between I6T and V8 at last. Whilst I love my I6T, the linear delivery of a manual GT (I prefer the ZF with the turbo) is going to sway me one day, but I'm not rushing out to buy one for a few years yet...
