It doesn't need to be proven.

Ford would not spend millions on something that is not

Better than previous.

True race or performance engines run steel cranks not cast.

Why do you think the 2j has a name for itself.

It's not because it's known fir breaking cranks or rods but for it's reliable high power output.

the coyote has a higher redline from factory because it's safe to rev due to it's better designed & quality bottom end.

Yes it's new and we don't know it's weakness and it's limit but on paper and what's already been tried with it, it looks to be a great step forward over the i6.

I'm in no way saying the i6 is a bad thing, it is fantasic and deserves all it's credit and more for what it is.

It's just the coyote has it's measure and more.

Cranny as for proven track records and quantity of parts available the i6 has nothing on the old 5.0l.

It has race records all over the world, you can purchase parts for it from many countries, it's cheaper to build than a i6.

The i6 may never live up to it's statue but for what it is it is a great motor.

The Coyote looks to have the advanced tech of the i6 plus.

It should go on to great things, it's aftermarket parts inventory will eclipse the i6, it's aftermarket development will also as it will be used for motorsport world wide.

It will be backed by the biggest and greatest performance companies throughout America and other international countries.

You really need to get off the rocking horse and start looking at the potential the coyote has.

As for crappy magazines and reviews, I think they rate better than Jo bob.

The ute has lost for some time now to the crumy mostly due to it's out dated rear suspension.

Maybe Ford will realize this this time around and do something about it.

I have not even bothered to read or purchase the wheels/motor ute review magazine as I already along with many others would know it would lose on over all points.

I did however pick it up flick to the verdic table so I could confirm my thoughts and for the miracle of hope that at least either the F6 or GT could prevail.

Dam again they both went down.

how can people start making claims that the Gt has stronger motor without ever driving one let alone tuning it upwards of 400 Rwkw. this motor is still new in the states and they haven't really proven its reliability yet. the I6 has a proven track record of making awesome power fairly reliably.

Well, it is simple, really - the V8, by nature, is a smoother engine, and will rev higher than the inline 6 which is a shaker. The way we drive, the inline 6 should last, but, it will not withstand high rpm, at high torque-levels, for long - it is a shaker, and the bearing caps tend to walk all over the place, and the narrow rpm band (due to resonance frequencies at higher rpm) doesn't do much to alleviate the situation at higher torque levels.

Whilst the inline 6 is a quick beast, (mine had around 378rwkw at it's best, I would venture to say that, with twin turbos, the V8, and running around 15 psi boost, would yield a 10L engine, as engine capacity is (approximately) doubled at 1 atmosphere pressure - the inline 6, at 15 psi boost, will only be an 8.0L engine - or, to be more specific, the engines will be developing as much torque as their naturally aspirated cousins of 10.0- and 8.0L respectively.

Please take note that I compare apples with apples here, ie turbo vs turbo, and, I would expect that, with a steel bottom end, even though the V8 has not "proven" itself according to a few guys here, it will simply kill the inline 6 in similar configuration.

I am a V8 fanboy, but, let me say this to: I had a test drive in the Etheridge Ford Ringwood GT last week, and was very disappointed - and, going by gut-feel, I would reckon it is on par with how my stock F6 UTE performed off the floor, in sotck trim.

But, I would also say this - once we start playing with these boys in apples->apples setups, no match. A turbo V8 at the same boost levels will always make more, and reliably so, power than the comparable inline 6.

No flaming guys, just my experience on eights vs sixes.

Mr Bean that makes two of us that have actaully driven the cars and we are both dissapointed, I know everybody wants to flame me for stating what I think but has someone actually driven the car (not a passeneger) and put forward a positive review. I only just got off the phone to my dealer here in sydney and he has given me a price on both the GT and the F6 so as much as I am critical of the Gt its still on the Cards. prices are $71,290(drive away) for the GT with Leather and 69K for the F6 with leather.

Yeah.

I loved it and am glad that we are so lucky to have the vehicle options we have in this country.

Jeesus... it's getting a little out of hand groover's lol

Um the V8 will run the higher revs because or the square bore to stroke. It can also safely run shorter skirts on the pistons as it has less stroke to deal with. Less friction. All adding up to a higher rpm limit. And this thing is so square It will run very high rpm's..... With a Billet crank.

But be prepared to fork out around ten G US at least for one when they come on the market. We put a billet crank in a turbo Hayabusa last year and it was $6500 US trade. It went from a 9,500 rpm to a safe 13,500. 600rwps

The old "Holland" I6 is a beauty. And about all the components behind it can handle for now. Even the M5's and AMG63's are blowing diffs and shafts. I don't think there is a diff made that does not whine like a biatch that will handle 400rwkw.

Ford is not that silly and they are very cheap.... so it's not going to tune a V8 that will disintegrate the drive line behind it.

Seriously the bearing noises that will come from products designed to take that sort of grunt will not be acceptable to most people on the road.

If I had the bucks my ass would be in a GT now. Just for the noise alone.

But I cant afford one............... and the old 6 still makes me laugh and HSV owners see red.
