Well got the car back yesterday afternoon, it sure is a hell of alot better than it was before.

I still have issues, the gearbox computer still thinks that 3rd and 5th gear are slipping. Ford and a number of tuners have tried to get it into 'learn' mode and even tried flashing it all back to standard configuration but no luck yet :( So hopefully after driving it for 500-1000k's it'll start to learn (so ford says).

Total bill was $5.5k for a huge rebuild, oil cooler and a few other bits and pieces. If anyone wants info on where I got it done just PM me :)

and thought I'd throw this in ;)

Cant edit my above post for some reason, so just adding this too :

Edit: Just went out and had a look to double check it had the oil cooler put in and couldn't see it, so I rang my mechanic and he said they've just replaced the heat exchanger. Speaking with gearbox re-builders and a few tuners, they recommended not to put it on due to the temperature control system the ZF runs and the high possibility of blowing it up.

5.5K is pretty steep mate.

Last person to have their ZF rebuilt that I know of was charged 2.8K and that included delivery to WA.

There are a few guys running oil coolers. I dont think they are needed as the ZF may not perform well if temps are not at optimum temperature. They can run poorly if the temps are too low.

Any chance you might bring the car down to Harry's Diner on Thursday night?

Yeah I know it was fairly expensive, but it was at my mechanics getting other work done, so he took the box out and took it to Bob Grant, so it would have cost me Bob's price + transport + workshop labor and other bits and pieces. Just glad to have her back lol.

And didnt give Harry's a thought but yeh might just come down for a visit, will you be there? Be good to see a few faces and meet some new people!
