Same thing happened to me, was travelling back down the Hume from visiting a mate up in Shepparton. Was the weekend Shepparton got flooded. Didn't see the pothole till last minute...blew front left and buckled beyond repair and buckled rear left also beyond repair. Put claim through to Vicroads and still haven't heard anything back and its been 3 months. Forked out of my own pocket and decided to go 19"s on the fronts and 20"s on the back. Will change the back when I can be bothered.

Good Luck with the claim.

today I was at a tyre shop and I saw the difference in tyre size between an 18in and 20 in rim ...its literally got double the tyre profile in an 18. should improve the suspension ride too I guess

my damaged 20in prowler rims were made by ROH , apparently a decent make. and I hit a relatively small pothole ...but I managed to get it right in the wrong spot on the front lip of the hole where it jutted out a bit. the front wheel was fine, weird

To the OP, yes mate smaller wheels with higher profile tyres make a big difference to your wheels survivability when it comes to potholes.......sidewall height, and give are a big factor, but also a lot of aftermarket (most?) 20' wheels are not made to the standard of Fords OEM wheels when it comes to strength and durability.

That should be the Townville/Nth Queensland roads warning sign to tourist drivers ____ " Be careful of our roads...they suck dick .." "and if you drive on our roads with 20 in rims...your a bloody idiot " :-D

Why do you think I stick with standard 17in rims (potholes, to keep it a sleeper and I'm a povo!). Quality of the Townsville and North Qld roads up here sucks d!ck...

I only bought 18s for my ute instead of the 19s I wanted due to the poor roads here. Feel like a f1 driver on warm up lap dodging side to side down a main road.

Ditto, Potholes everywhere here. Found out today 3 of my stock dark argents are buckled. Hit a big one on the Peak downs hwy plus a couple of small ones.

Does going the council route work? Thinking of hitting up insurance, mmm BBS CH blacks.

Mate, feel for you.

I'm running 17s where I am, because I kept popping the tyres on the 18s. I just can't imagine what 19s or 20s would be like. The only thing for me would be to not to go out in the rain at all. That's when the pathetic attempts at repairing potholes would just get worse.

Haven't had to replace a 17 tyre, though I have hit some freakin' deep potties since. Keep the buggers pumped up to ~40psi too.
