As topic says got a car on car sales and have had 2 text messages now numbers starting with +447 from mobiles asking to email them details about car.

Didn't really pick up the number prefix the first time but when I got a second one today I noticed all other numbers in my phone started with the +61 aus code .

Looked it up and the +447 looks like it's UK or isle of man prefix.

So be carefull and check the numbers people are messaging you from.

Weird. You should bait them, see what angle they play, then tell em to shove it.

Yeah they're routing themselves through the UK, I'm getting the same crap on my Avalon I have up for sale at the moment.

The other one I've got that I baited out was the "I'm an engineer on rig offshore, send details of car" followed by "I will pay for $500 more than you ask, send $1000 through Western Union to this address." BLAH BLAH BLAH. Can't believe people fall for that crap

I had a mate who actually sold his car to one of these guys, received the cash and someone came and took the car. About 3 weeks later the AFP came around with a recovery note demanding the laundered funds returned to crown evidence. After that he was sans a car and cash. He didn't mind but, it was only a $500 junker and he thought it was funny.

Had a bloke contact me throught carsales the same way, asked to buy the car, and was arranging pickup and inspection, but asked if I couls pay the pick-up guy, and add the cost onto the car, turns out they do a thing where they semi transfer the money into you account, called an authorisation, and when they get the car, or after ten days the transaction is cancelled.
