Robbo, have you ever owned a V8?

l came out of a V8 into our XR6T and the thing l missed more than anything else was the driveability you get from a V8. l found the T to be awesome when in its sweet spot, but at other times found the lack of power when not in the 'band' very disappointing. The combination of lower compression and a large turbo makes the engine fairly sluggish when the revs are below 2 grand.

V8's remain popular not just because of their sound, but all round driveability. The GT just happens to be an awesome car too :ermm: Take one for a drive and you will be won over.

It's a matter of oppinion. If you've just bought a T, unless your Renee Rivken, stick with it for 3 years, until warranty is up. Then... upgrade, get the life out of your car, and a new GT will be there in 3 years time if your ready for one. Insurance is a factor also. If only I had the $$ I would have bought a GT. However... I wouldn't go from a T to a GT, that would be simply stupid, I'd be loosing money.

But, if you haven't bought a T yet remember...

IF YOU'RE GONNA BE A BEAR!! BE A GRIZZLY.... BUY THE GT

Mondie ...

I've owned a lot of cars .. 2 of them were V8s. One was a VK Police Special and the other was a VN SS.

I would consider that the GT is a better all round package to the T but I can't see the sense in changing before say ... 3 years. I plan to mod the T a little and it will probably eat unmodded GTs for breakfast.

I understand what you say about the power however, but it is in the skill of the driver I feel. If you know the car well, you will know how to get the most out of it, especially in manual.

I took my T to Wakefield Park a few weeks back and thrashed the hell out of it. In standard form it was just a pretty quick car compared to a few of the modded cars that were there. In modded form, it will be something to be reckoned with.

Don't misunderstand my comments though ... My next car will probably be a V8 again. This is my 3rd XR6 and I regard the complete package as being close to the 3 best cars I have owned with the T being the best.

I guess the good news is that while I'm driving a really nice, and quick, car, I can look around and see what is on offer and what will be coming out in the future ... A GTHO maybe ??

Forget comparing a 6T with a V8.They are two seperate motors ,two seperate cars.If you want, like, the low down grunt then its a V8 for you(like Mondie says)

Ive gotten used to the sluggishness (which really aint that bad) of the slugg ,but there is no way I will ever sell the old XY Clevo.

Guess Ive got the best of both worlds

My comments are along the line of Mondies, although it's been a while since I've owned a V8.

I can only compare my T to a GT-P demo, but that 5 hrs or so convinced EID and I that the GT was worth the investment and parting with our beloved T.

The T was the best car I have owned as an all round package, to date, would have to say the drivability of the Supra was a bit better (stuck like sh!t to a blanket) :D

But the T was quick, gearbox lacked a bit, I would say the auto on the T would be the better combination, however if the series II has a better manual box then all the better, love manuals personally.

Brakes on the T.......average, premiums should be standard on the T.

Insurance on the T was dearer than the GT (quote) by about $40.00.

Moved the T fairly quickly, I think it had something to do with the colour as a guy had a Blueprint here in WA on the market for longer than mine with heaps more extras and sold it for the same price (go Team HgAg).

The presence, drivability, low down torque, finish (inside and out), the little extras on the GT make it soooooo much better.

Can't wait to get the beast in my garage!

And will give my thoughts on the GT, that you can bank on!
