Quote. "If the Xr8 is this good what will the GT be like"

Backing off in second to the 100kph mark, refined (like all BAs) Press day was yesterday so I guess this would be the first official drive impression by the media

Drive section Herald Sun. Might make the website, but seeing as Drive also asked for a please explain on the LS1 issues I suspect that might be the article that makes the web.

No times given, overall impression might be assumed to be better than the Turbo but that would be reading alot into their comments

Well one article suggest maybe the other suggest no in a big way. "Impression no quicker than the SS." Wait till the Hoilden boys get hold of this one. Oh and althought they will wait on the full dr4ive fuel consumption looks like it might be a problem. This coming from Gover, means Jack. Every car that guy writes about has fuel issues.

It is a differenet driving experience but 1.8t is alot of weight.

Power to weight between the XR8 and SS is probably almost identical as the SS is around 150kg lighter and around 10% less powerful. It will all come down to how they make power in the rev range, we already know the SS is a revver so it will be close

Esky posted some dyno observations on the 6T and XR8 a few days back that showed that the T6 had more torque upto around 3500 rpm so the T6 with its slight weight advantage may prove to be equal or faster than the XR8.

Cant wait to read about the T6 and XR8 comparisons in the coming weeks :D

well if that is the case the Turbo must make a lot between 2000 and 3300 because at 1900 the turbo is as dead as. If that dyno run is indicative the XR8 is going to be worse depending on gearing.

According to FPV the turbo is slightly quicker to 100 and the XR8 quicker over the quarter

At 2000-4500 rpm, the XR6T makes 450nm. Yes, something special does happen after 1900rpm.

Hard to make calls without a drive of the XR8 but what I've read so far lends me to believe the 8 may have its work cut out beating the XR6 T to the hundred. If FPV have actually said this (where did you hear/read this?), then I'll be really interested to see how Ford market the XR8. I know some people just HAVE to have the rumble but that rumble most of the time meant quicker 0-100 times. Personally, there is much more to think about than these times when choosing a package but we all know how important these figures are when sale time comes.

The XR8 reviews should make interesting reading.
